Buy the core parts from Framework and then buy & install things like NVMe and memory yourself. Will save a considerable amount.
Aye that's not a bad plan, to be honest I think my Strix still has a few years left at least but we'll see.

I built my ideal laptop... 4TB storage, the 5070, all the mods I would need, and it comes to $4000+ :(
My ASUS ROG Strix cost me $1500 back when the 3080's were new and has a 3080. Have prices risen that much?

Not really. It's sour grapes imho.
I wouldn’t say sour grapes, just that people have a certain budget. Forgoing Business/First i used to be able to afford more days away, maybe an extra city, etc
As I get older I take business class more, because I prefer the comfort over having a few extra days. Ask younger me and he would have taken the extra holiday days

My wife's last name is only 2 letters long. Some websites don't accept that as it's too short (take that, Xi Jinping!)
Conversely, I've had to fill forms in Korea that included space for only 4 letters, including both first and last name. Needless to say, my 3 first names plus last name didn't fit.
Same in China, the amount of issues I’ve had at banks, airports etcwith 4 names is unbelievable

Apollo’s dev never released the source code to the app, only the server which sends out push notifications.

I don't get why you can't just bring your own API key with Apollo. It seems pretty simple to have the user go through Oauth to set up an app and have his own quota.
You can, I've already made a modified version of Apollo and sideloaded it onto my phone with a tweak to set my own key instead of Apollo's
However there is a line on the developers page now that says all apps need to accept terms and sign up for a developers program, so I have my doubts it will continue to work either
Forgive me if I'm making a simplistic reading of this, but it seems the CEO has said that whilst apps and bots are making some good money, Reddit is losing money. Assuming Reddit has already taken cost saving measures (with 2000 staff maybe not), then how can they continue as a business losing money?
I wonder if a model would work where all monetization of api calls has to be done through Reddit and the API itself, and they do a 30% revenue share with the apps?
Apps were always willing to pay money for their usage, but not the insane pricing Reddit put in front of them ($12k for 50 million calls)
