I opened the first of these at random:

Turned out to be an interesting historical snapshot in light of the current metal prices. A pre-9/11 discussion about the then-growing, now-defunct eGold. The thing that was trying to be Bitcoin before Bitcoin.

Kind of sad that we're stuck with the one that heats the Earth because Bush/Cheney decided we couldn't have the energy efficient one.

Ethereum is extremely energy efficient after the switch to proof of stake and ready to be used any time.

This plan is going to backfire so hard. A vibrant economy is one with maximum amount of participants. The right wants people to reproduce, but what insane person would reproduce under the current fascist regime? Immigration is the only hope for mature economies to avoid Japan and other graying countries’ fate.

After the first battery of my Samsung S4 expanded at the end of its life in less than 2 years, I found a utility that didn't work perfectly but could limit charge anywhere between 30 to 100% most of the time, and it prolonged the lifetime of the couple of later batteries during the 10+ years I used the phone with a limit around 66%.

I was glad to see my new Samsung XCover 7 has a built-in option to limit charge to 80%, although a flaky usb cable could sometimes overcharge to 100%. And also has a removable battery.

You only charged your phone to 66% for ten years?

I’m still amazed Sam Trabucco got absolutely nothing. Stepped away in August 2022 as Co-CEO with Ellison and we are supposed to believe he was innocent and knew nothing?

All these are so infuriating. It's crazy what a nice metal case and good hardware can make people forgive.

What’s no longer outperforming? Gold?

Bitcoin just had a down year in 2025 when it was supposed to be the bull year. One of the worst performing assets of 2025. Doing well so far in 2026.

Here’s the thing about stock markets: if you think it’s inflated or there’s a bubble, great, you can pull your money out. But then you look around and try to figure out a better place to put your money long term, and where does that bring you?

Back to the stock market.

If we judge it by the lost decade after the 2000 tech bubble definitely not back to stocks.

A portfolio of things like gold, small cap value, long term treasuries did 10% a year while stocks did like 0% a year for a decade.

Mistletoe commented on AI generated music barred from Bandcamp   old.reddit.com/r/BandCamp... · Posted by u/cdrnsf

I believe if you go down the rabbit hole of "mood playlists" and spotify created playlists, then you'll get a lot of tracks that they don't need to pay royalties for and that could probably include AI generated music.

If you are explictitly looking for music by specific artists, then you get their music obviously.

Mistletoe · a month ago
Is there a good way to know if what you are listening to is AI? I listen to a lot of outrun and synthwave type stuff and it isn’t as easy as googling the artist’s name, a lot of it is made by artists that don’t tour and are quite small etc.
