I encourage the author to spend an afternoon and evening in Palo Alto as well as in SF and SJ downtown. Please tell us afterwards where you and your family would rather live.

Curious how they managed to associate which account/queries belong to which actor/group.

For the last few months, I am consistently receiving spam calls (on my mobile number) shortly after I left the house regardless of weekday, time etc.

I never thought about the idea that an app can track when I leave my (most frequently) used WiFi and derive from that I left home.

Talking about irrelevant stats, the Raptor can do 3.6 sec pulls all day long. Curious to see the Cybertrucks repeatability here...

Micromanaging, yes. Another one: synchronous meetings and random phone calls.

If I have a synchronous meeting at 11am, I get nothing of value done before 11am.

If I've loaded an hour of context to search for a hard bug and at 4pm I'm forced to answer a "just 2 minutes" phone call, then I'm done work for the day.

KindAndFriendly · 2 years ago
+1 and even worse: at 10:55am the sync meeting gets postponed to 12:15pm because the organizer is "stuck in some other important meeting"

>IMHO vehicles are huge drivers of debt. There are almost no cars under $30k now, and the average sale price of new cars is pushing up near $50k. This is for bog standard stuff like Hondas and Fords, not luxury cars.

I went on toyota.com and a base level corolla is only selling for $22,795. This includes a "Delivery, Processing & Handling" charge of $1,095. If for whatever reason you think that driving a compact car is beneath you, you can have a mid sized car (toyota camary) for only $27,515.

KindAndFriendly · 2 years ago
Currently trying to buy a Corolla Hybrid (base). The best out-the-door quote I got so far is $28.5k, the MSRP is $23k. So yes, you are looking at almost $30k for the most basic car.

I think this is great but I continue to wonder about Tesla's plan here.

The Supercharger network is one of their remaining competitive advantages. Other manufacturers were behind for years on efficiency, range, etc. but are now catching up - and other manufacturers are far better at making an actual _car_ than Tesla. Build quality, quality control, durability, comfort, noise, etc.

Unless Tesla is so confident that their manufacturing skills will give them a continuing and durable cost advantage - that makes up for the fact that they haven't innovated or even improved their basic vehicle design for the past 10 years - I don't see how this works to their advantage.

Maybe they foresee that the actual electric cars will be on par in the near future and hence focus on being the leader in energy distribution.

Imho MSFT overestimates the loyalty of video game fans to a game franchise vs a console ecosystem. Even if the deal should go through and even if it should result in - let's say - CoD being exclusive to Xbox, I don't think a lot of fans would then switch away from Playstation just for that.

I can see why they don't want to be known. The parks would probably have a field day with their lawyers. Not to mention the FAA, since it looks like they are most likely violating line of site drone rules, unless they are doing it in a helicopter or plane.
KindAndFriendly · 2 years ago
How does it hurt the interest of the parks? Doesn't it ultimatley draw the attention to new, upcoming rides and attractions?
