Powerful fast-moving machines will, if you are not careful, one day humble you or worse. I posted on the other thread about my experience with a CNC mill accident many years ago:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38210671

At a much lower power level, I had a couple harrowing experiences with powerful industrial grade table saws (4 to 5 HP spindle). In one case it grabbed this piece of plastic being cut and launched it 25 feet at such speed that it penetrated the door of a refrigerator that just happened to be in its path.

You can never take powerful equipment for granted. And, if it is computer controlled, well, make sure you can see the power cord being disconnected before you even think about getting anywhere close to parts that can hurt you.

One of the things I taught my kids when doing projects with power tools at home is to unplug the cord after you are done cutting/drilling/whatever and place the power plug right on the machine where you can see it. With time you get used to not approaching the machine unless you know where that plug is...in the wall or on the machine.

But I wonder why these machines should be that powerful. Sure there are use cases when you need the machine to do heavy work, but in the case of lifting boxes of peppers and transferring them onto pallets, the robot shouldn't be that powerful to be able to crush a man's chest.

AdBlock on mobile is a Firefox great advantage that everyone can appreciate. You can install it with AdBlock on mobiles your friends and family uses.

This is a great feature. However, the UX is super bad. I use Firefox for desktop for many years know and I'm happy with it. But for mobile, I keep it installed (and use it from time to time) just to support it.

I freely choose not to accept these results.

Just saying it doesn't mean it's true. The point is why you pick that choice, and not the other one. Why you like that color, and don't like that one. Why you fell in love with that person and not another one, and so on... Most of the choices we make we don't know why we made them.

Hey, I like the low price. I want to make a SaaS with a low price but sadly with something like Stripe for example at 1.50 per month 23% of your revenue goes directly in merchant fees. Braintree is the same.

Do you use another provider or do you just accept the fact that it's gonna be one of your main costs ?

Have you considered Paddle, they offer custom pricing if you sell products under $10

They aren't trying to murder people. They are trying to end a hostile foreign government engaged in attacking their territory.

Israel can't fix the world's problems, but they have a right to self defense.

Houssameddine · 2 years ago
"A hostile foreign government" is exactly what Israel is. What's wrong with you people?! Are we living in two different worlds or what?! Do you even know why there's a conflict between the two countries? Stop jumping into the middle of the conversation and go do some research. The situation has roots from before 1948, so stop starting your timeline of what's happening from the 7th of October.

Get real. The government of Palestine murdered 1,000 innocent people. Now they are going to receive a military response and people are pretending they are the victims.
Houssameddine · 2 years ago
Now you're accusing "The government of Palestine" and not just Hamas!!

So what? if they killed 1000 "innocent" people, how many Israel should kill to make their revenge? Until this moment Israel has killed more than 5800 (and still counting) also innocent people, and most of them are women and children.

Killing more people won't help, finding a solution for the original situation is the only way for Palestine and Israel people to have peace.

I love the idea, and the simplicity of the site. Searching for keywords like css, javascript... returns results from the actual source code, not from the content.

How would you save the "reject all" selection without using a cookie for that user's session?
Houssameddine · 2 years ago
I think you don't need a cookie for that. You can use localStorage which is local to the user's device.
