C4 modelling (with associated diagrams using whatever tools) can be powerful, part of the value is that they help capture the nested and relational nature of many software systems.

Can anybody reading this comment please enlighten me on good algorithms for optimum bin sizes for histograms? I have tried DW Scott's (1979) method. But are there any new better kid in the block?

I'm by no means an expert in the area, but i know that the Freedman-Diaconis rule (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedman%E2%80%93Diaconis_rule) is used by the seaborn Python plotting library (https://web.stanford.edu/~mwaskom/software/seaborn/index.htm...) which seems to consistently produce good results.

The alternative is just to be good. Then you have nothing to hide, and nothing to worry about.

In the case of Zynga, hocking malware to your users is not good. They indeed had something to worry about.

I believe that one of the points that he were trying to make was that you have to be aware that even if you are "good", you as a public speaker might (and probably will) be taken out of context.

It might happen in a 30 second Youtube clip on Techcrunch or in a published interview, either way it's still vital to try to be prepared when it happens.

Don't forget about xbox360 - most US males age 7-18 wants/has one. It's an excellent Microsoft product that is often overlooked.

"Despite billions in investment, its Xbox line is still at best an equal contender in the game console business."

He didn't forget the Xbox, but he did give the impression that he wouldn't consider it a success.

article hits one of my biggest gripes with computer UI design in general: the ubiquity of the yes/no option. programs are no longer a stack of cards people. the options presented to the end user should be a list of the actions available to them (with most common at the top) with a small blurb in non-tech speak about what each option does.

I dont understand exactly what you're getting at here, could you elaborate?

Also, could you give an example when the Yes/No option doesn't work and when the added complexity of presenting several actions is justified?
