A while ago I had a discussion with my friends that it is possible that in the future if 5G is sufficiently cheap, smart tvs come with a 5G SIM so they can force ads and updates even if you refuse to connect it to WiFi. I wonder if this will ever be a real thing. Either 5G, 6G or whatever comes next.

Real 5G can’t penetrate walls so I doubt it. AT&T 5G is really 4G so that could be added to tv’s easily.

The lack of official Linux/BSD support is enough to make it DOA for any serious large-scale deployment. Until Apple figures out what they're doing on that front, you've got nothing to worry about.

The whole windows game mod scene shows just how much of a toy operating system windows is. Game mods are changing memory values on the fly on running programs and the OS allows it. These mods can just as easily read/modify Excel spreadsheets to get business health data. This is why corporate windows machines lock everything down. Crazy.

Originally anti-cheat was to detect the running of the mods but of course now are phoning home every thing you are doing on your computer.

When the next window image manager claims windows is secure ask them to turn off the virus scanner. They will look at you like your nuts.

I have an old laptop that boots Windows 7 and in my opinion, it's peak Windows (having used everything from 98SE onward, including 2K). It feels modern in a way that older entries don't but doesn't have the annoying and user-hostile elements of newer entries. The visual style is slightly dated feeling but it wouldn't take a whole lot of work to fix that.

Respectfully disagree. NT/Win2000 was the peak as it was before they added all the DRM/phone home junk. It ran fast, in fact diablo ran smoother on it than on the win 98 partition I had at the time. Granted some programs failed because they were doing things memory wise they should not been doing...
