And your ISP will be happy to show pop-up advertisements all over your HTTP website.

And you, the owner, will likely be to blame by the user.

What first world ISP does this?

My IT department performs a man-in-the-middle attack against all my VPN traffic, and issues on-the-fly certificates for all the sites I visit. There is zero warning on my side, and the only way I know of it is because I'm a nerd who looks into certificate chains sometimes. My other nerd coworkers are blissfully unaware.

EDIT: I understand how it works. This wasn’t my point.

I wonder if you could roll your own VPN tunnel that directly connects to your home internet IP and passes custom encrypted payload that your IT department cannot decode. Would they just drop the connection if they can't inspect what your are sending?

> Update 2023-11-05 Yeah, I've got an LE cert now. And I don't want to talk about it.

Please do tell. I'm curious what forced him to join The Borg.

I wonder about the legality of buying your way into listeners discovery feed. When it's a blatant lie to suggest it's based on the listeners preferred music.
AntronX · a year ago
I guess it's legal because Spotify is a private subscription service and does not use public airwaves like radio so Payola rules do not apply.

You aren't kidding. On Firefox 120 it ramps up a Xeon core to >50% and floors my GPU 3D at 100%.

I opened on Opera and CPU is negligible, GPU is steady at 15% (which still seems high for a throwaway web background).

for those playing along at home: https://github.com/signup?source=login

My CPU was at 27% (i3-4130) and 27 watts power use vs. 11w at idle. Added uBlock filter: github.com##div.signup-stars and CPU was back to 1%. Background stars animation is the culprit.
