Same. I need a Windows machine for legacy .NET projects and the pro version just works.

I think most problems stem from home versions of windows.

Still prefer my Linux machine tho.

Yup. Home version is full of gadgets with news, weather, offers, AI stuff in the task bar... feels claustrophobic.

macOS Mail app is still the best native e-mail client in my experience.

I have switched to Thunderbird full-time since I switched to Linux. Can confirm it supports unified inbox.

It'll sound crazy: I've never used Macs, but the IMAP-based client was Outlook Express back in 2005-2010.

100% multi-thread download and synch of folder contents, instantaneous display of messages, super-responsive.

I've tried a lot of clients on Windows and Linux and none of them get near the experience I had 20 years ago.

I'm surprised that you could get a modem pair to connect with a plain wire. An old dial telephone (e.g. a 500 set) was an entirely passive device, relying on power from the central office end of the wire. The carbon mic didn't need an amplifier - it's just a resistor, with resistance varying according to sound pressure; a transformer subtracted out the mic from the combined signal and sent the difference to the speaker.

I did a quick search on 1670 schematics and came up with very little. Note however that several sources identify the USR101 chip as a ROM - that's clearly not the case, as a schematic shows no address or data bus, and you can see a line from the coupling transformer to an RC network and several pins on the device. It's almost certainly the analog front end and the modulator/demodulator.

If you could find a datasheet for that device you'd probably be able to figure out how the whole thing works, but I'm guessing those were never available to the public and have been lost to the mists of time.

I used to work at an ISO in 1997 and we tested Mototola Sufr 28.8 and USRobotics Sportster 33.6 modems this way, just a short pair between them back-to-back. ATX1D on one side, ATA on the other, connection established.

However, recently a friend of mine tried to use the same trick with two USB modems from Trendnet and it failed. It seems they either don't have oomph enough or they rely on 9vdc off-hook carrier voltage to work.

Please stop. The moment you mentioned started mixing the Executive with the Judiciary ("has support of sitting president") it became clear you are not providing pure facts, but an opinion.

The way I see this: the Supreme Court asked X to remove content and accounts that main purpose were to promote hate and aggression towards the electoral system and institutions; X didn't comply; fines were issued; fines were never paid by X; the justice started using all available legal tools to fulfill the previous mandates (content removal and/or pecuniary penalties).

I've never heard of anonymity being forbidden anywhere before. What exactly does that imply? What motivated this... right?

Because the answer to a defamation and asking for its compensation are also constitutional rights.

> 50⁰F/28⁰C

50⁰F is 10⁰C

> Temperatures are expected to remain up to 36 to 50 degrees (20 to 30 Celsius)

36⁰F to 50⁰F is 2⁰C to 10⁰C.

TWP can't Celsius.

At some point automated emails will be read by auto reader, then the cycle will be completed.

I've actually made an internal company April fools website. Too bad I've never kept a copy but here goes.

It's called Proxy Ai. It reads your emails so you don't have to. It reads every posts on social media so you don't FOMO. It communicates with those chatty colleagues so you don't have to. Proxy Ai... So you don't have to.

"That actually sounds like a pretty good product. Does it send you a summary of the conversations, emails and social media posts?"

"No"

> Indeed, a great part of these IPs are known as MikroTik Routers

I wonder why they decided not to include the exact percentage of the attack coming from Mikrotik devices or a list of the top 10 vendors and their share.

Like, did Mikrotik generate 50% of the high packet rate DDoS? Or was it like 10% coming from Microtik, 10% from major vendors and 80% of others/unknown?

"In Brazil, there is a frequent rhetoric about “we don’t want to become like Argentina” or “this politician will turn us into Argentina”. So I was left wondering: how bad is it over there really?"

In the 80s Brazil, there was a TV ad from Orloff vodka[1] where the guy talked to future-himself. The catchphrase was "Who are you?" "I'm you, but tomorrow".

That was it. Every news outlet started using the term "Orloff effect" to scare viewers and readers about brazilian government policies that would, in their opinion, inevitably make Brazil become an Argentina.
