Ask HN: Where can I see a live octopus in Maine?

Hi HN, I’m really interested in marine biology and cephalopods. I’ll be traveling in Maine and would love to know if there are aquariums, research centers, or even public tidepool areas where I could see a live octopus.

Any tips on locations, institutions, or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

This does not meet your criteria as it is the exact opposite side of the country but the octopus encounter at the Oregon aquarium was far and away the coolest animal experience I’ve had.

There was a giant Pacific octopus at the aquarium in Boston but it appears he passed in '21.

I'm in Maine but the last octopus I saw was in Salt Lake City.
