A tabloid article (from an outlet known for engaging in culture wars) quoting an opposition political party gearing up for an election campaign.

I don't think I could imagine a less reliable source.

I've searched using site:gov.au and site:edu.au and not really found anything like demanding ...

I haven't read the tabloid article (the site is in my deny list) but [1] and [2] (2016 news item) suggest it's something that has had a positive outcome for indigenous children - I'd add I'd guess those whom still have strong cultural ties to the old ways and community. As for the present political climate, yes the old guard in opposition who paid $$$$$$$$$$$ to big business during covid and told the likes of poorer self employed folks albeit in semantics and run around to go fuck themselves, have basically fallen to zombie sheep grooming by way of their favourite tv media Sky meows and any other big business backed media outlets and lately trying quite hard to copy the Trump play manual as WTF - it actually worked.

Queensland education for bit over a dozen years have had to endure with a huge budget cut by a FW state govt saving money and the immediate fallout not easily undone ...
