Persons with identity insecurity are vulnerable. I bet that this is just one of the more visible stories, a cult who operate openly saying that what they are doing is good.
This is fascinating in its own way. I don't know if it is the writer who is good at their job of weaving the story together, adding questions and intrigue without answers or if it's the subject itself.
It’s the story itself. The Ziz trainwreck has been years in the making since 2019 when they went nuts on the retreat protest in Sonoma. Since then it’s been obvious to people in the rationalist sphere Ziz was great at manipulating people and themselves into delusions, and so erratic as to be highly dangerous when people in that sphere were committing suicide.
For anyone else who worries about encountering disingenuous and duplicitous people in intellectual circles, remember that intellectuals don’t require religious adherence to their way of thinking. You can tell the difference between passionate intellectuals versus sociopaths by noticing how they treat you if you disagree with them. Sociopaths, or some mentally-ill people, will seek to dominate you, and don’t care about your personhood or individuality, or your right to disagree.
