It should be remembered that Spirit makes the 737 bare bones fuselage then ships it by train to Boeing. This fuselage had the door plug installed on models that have one. When the fuselage gets to Boing the door plug is removed so the interior team can finish out the component then Boeing (not Spirit) does the final door plug installation.
If it turns out the door plug were improperly installed this is going to all on Boeing.
Has anyone seen a good summary of the upstream causes of the decline of Boeing? The candidates I'm aware of are:
1. Boeing trying to break their union and opening a plant in a right-to-work state. That brings with it all sorts of adversarial realationships weird power-trips that are notoriously hostile to safety of quality.
2. The FAA devolving inspection to firms.
3. The MBAs at Boeing embracing margin optimization and disaggregating Boeing to allow "competitive" bidding. The complexity of integrating that many suppliers is beyond.
this looks pretty bad. they reported the issue. management asked them to falsify documents (say hello to jail for those managers...). the ceo was in copy so he/she's gonna get toasted to spill all out. this on top of a plane that is plagued with issues... if you paid people to break down boeing they could not even reach that level of incompetence and stupidity. this is amazing.
those managers need to be named. fired.
and they must be forbidden, for life, to work in management positions in any company that handles people and can put them at risk (any kind of transportation).
they have failed beyond belief and must never, ever, be put in a position of management where they can put any life at risk, again.
If the system wasn't broken and the only thing that counts is short term stock profit these types of managers wouldn't get into these positions.
They should be punished but it doesn't fix the problem because the next are there to take their place. Many leave financially set for life before something happens and never have to take responsibility.
