Considering how Google Stadia is going down and that people effectively might lose (has lost?) access to purchased games, I tend to agree with the video.
Played a game as a service. Spent over $2,000 in it over the course of about 4 years. The game lost its IP rights, and shut down pretty unexpectedly.
Did losing access to the game suck? Yeah. But if you take the time I spent playing the game over my account lifespan, I spent less than $1 an hour for pretty quality entertainment. It's not a fraud, and one of my cheaper hobbies.
but the opportunity cost is enormous....you forfeit the ability to ever play again. so if someone was not lucky enough to have the 2000+ hours for their $2000(which is now a sunk cost) they cannot invest the time in the future either....
