Exactly our experience (poor documentation). We switched to Authentik because of this.

I would love to hear what the Syrian hacker news community has to say about this. I’m reading so many comments here but not sure how many are from actual Syrians who probably have a deeper understanding and hope/fears about what comes next.

Syrian here, born, raised, and finished my studies in Syrian.

Been to many countries like UAE, Saudi, and finally Germany.

I can tell that the joy is immense. Most druze and alawite are not too happy and fearing, mainly because of the feare built into them throughtout the war years.

Incertanitiy is very big, but the joy of seeing a north-korean-like system collapse in few days is unimaginable.

I have seen too many nk documentaries, I can say that it applies 100% to Syria, with many many more complexities in the region.

Happy to give proof to mods.

As always this is so much more than merely a video debunking. It’s a great piece of comedy, an insightful analysis of technology and even great commentary on the historical development both back when the video was made but also the now current state of the environment around social media creators. Absolutely amazing.

He makes amazing videos by placing the cameras in all wierd angels and adds so much stuff to explain a concept, that makes you think it's simple, yet you finish his videos admiring him even more...

How can Reddit and Twitter turn openly hostile to users? They're just platforms for users to submit posts. I haven't seen a major change in Reddit since the UI overhaul in 2018. And even that I wouldn't call hostile. Just annoying. And it can be worked around.

Reddit killed 3rd party apps almost entierly.

How please?

But sugar is still considered unhealthy to give to children on a regular basis. Given how much the water is mudded by a lot of talks, and that parents are always confused what treat to give/promise to their children...
yetanother-1 commented on Why doesn't HN have a dark-theme?    · Posted by u/sirolimus

I added some lines to my uBO custom filters and fixed this, thanks to some comment in a prior discussion about this.

I do wonder why light mode is the default though, since historically computers had bright characters on black screens, and this is supposed to be "hacker news". It wasn't until the 90s when white backgrounds became normalized. Even though many users may not be old enough to remember the days of using MS-DOS, "dark mode" is generally quite popular among techies. I really wonder what a poll would show here.

Shorting a stock is like taking out a loan, but when you pay it back, you don't pay it back at the value you started with, but at the new value. So, if you shorted starting at $100, and it's now worth $10, you could keep those $90, and pay back just the $10.
yetanother-1 · a year ago
But unlike stock buying, shorting can cause huge damage more the the starting value.

If you short a stock at 100, and it reaches 10, you pay back at 10 and get to keep the remaining 90.

If, however, that stock reaches 300, you have to pay the extra 200 from your pocket.

So shorting is much bigger risk than investing directly in stocks.
