Yet again, we see that just because you can be your bank , doesn't mean you should. These 'safe', ' audited' programs, protocols, wallets keep failing. The introduction of irrevocable bounties creates a huge incentive to find bugs. The so-called self-funded bug bounty. Never trust a 3rd party to do your crypto.

The CEO is a huge scammer and at least one audit said atomic wallet was very insecure.

Totally true! Which is why there’s a healthy conservative portion that’s on Reddit, and r/theDonald one of the largest thriving communities there is.

Oh wait, that’s not true at all.

These are just empty lies and niceties that don’t stand up to scrutiny. Reddit has weaponized information and is just another tool of propaganda.

wolongong942 · 2 years ago
Yep Reddit censorship only goes one way. There are tons of subs about white people doing bad things but as soon as someone makes a r/blacksdoing<bad things> it's almost immediately banned. Same goes with questioning trans/LGBT/Women/etc. Sub dedicated to misandry? OK.. your sub is loosely associated with misogyny? banned. What's funny is Elon Twitter reminding me of pre-2016 Reddit because they aren't censoring in an unbiased way.

Yeah. Absolutely loaded with Ukrainian propaganda. Granted, I want Russia to lose the war they started.

It's more the fact that you NEVER get 2 sides on Reddit, every sub just turns into a circle jerk. Posting on Reddit is pointless unless you're just trying to validate your preexisting views.

One item I believe that hasn't been mentioned are the effects of carbonated water/soda on ones oral health.
wolongong942 · 2 years ago
I've also been drinking 2.25l of coke zero every day for 5 years and it has been a game changer for both weight and oral health. Previously i required fillings quite frequently and none over that period. Obv nobody should drink any soda if they don't have to but if replacing consumption of sugary drinks it's extremely effective for health gains. And most of the anti sugar-free soda studies are bro science.

The supply of engineers has also massively increased compared to the supply of high paying tech jobs.

Your salary is capped by what you produce for your employer but your salary is determined by how hard it is to replace you. In the Bay with more companies than you could count, they had to fight tooth and nail for these incredibly productive workers, pushing wages higher and higher - capturing the value the workers create. Add in ZIRP and all the startups that creates and you’re looking at a cage fight between employers over workers.

With remote work and the end of ZIRP, suddenly the bay has less startups and the Googles of the world can more seamless employ workers in Cleveland or Bangalore. What does a Bay Area worker gain from this, access to tech jobs in Cleveland?

Companies don't seem to hire this efficiently in practice, and a large number of these big tech workers seem to receive far more value than they create. I've personally seen no change in usability of social media platforms despite a ton of layoffs. I think we will see more efficient hiring by necessity (higher rates).

Doesn't this require a huge amount of voice data before it would even sound remotely believable to maybe an elderly person with hearing/processing issues? I thought this was only possible for YouTubers, news presenters, etc as they have many hours of voice data to use.

I’m curious what percentage of their traffic this will eliminate…I would imagine it’s pretty significant.

Modern chat apps & message boards use their own image hosting rather than people sharing links. A bunch of old message-boards are going to be full of dead links though. Hosting these old images probably cost a ton of money that they don't recoup, whereas new users pay for their storage by forced app download & giving up their data.

Can anyone give some insights into what trends are driving this beyond a global drop in PC shipments? For instance, longer-lasting hardware, shift to cloud storage, decline in crypto mining (see reqs https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/features/requirements), other factors?
wolongong942 · 2 years ago
In my case i just buy used HDDs from the local PC repair shop for pennies, and use them for my long term storage and offsite backups. Shops usually swap people's HDDs out for SSDs to speed up their PC, so they have a ton of ~1tb ones to sell for cheap. I doubt people like myself are impacting the market for HDDs though.

GDPR is a huge step in the right direction and has made a big difference. But yes, it needs much more time.
wolongong942 · 2 years ago
Does GDPR remove the legal requirement for financial institutions to hold data for 7 yrs? if not then it's mostly irrelevant in this case.
