How much heat does it generate and how loud is it at full tilt? Try keep comparing it to a modern under-desk computer, but I’m not sure you’d want to have that thing in the same room while you’re using it?

According to the specifications the max power draw is 1650W. All of that is converted into heat so it's like a small space heater.

The most amazing thing about this (and another tiny RFID chip that was on HN recently) is not that you can print them on wafers, but that you can cut up the wafers and handle these tiny dies. Imagine you manufactured sugar, but had to manipulate each sugar grain separately.
vlabakje90 · 5 days ago
It thought it was an interesting analogy, so I looked up the size of a typical sugar crystal. It's between 450 and 600 microns. So these chips are 3 to 4 times smaller than that even.

"of a 51% attack", it's called a sybil attack

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sybil_attack

Btw, here's the alternative link https://xcancel.com/p3b7_/status/1955173413992984988

Going by the definition given in the wiki you’ve linked, a Sybil attack is about creating many fake identities to gain disproportionate influence in a network. A 51% attack in blockchain terms is specifically about controlling the majority of the network’s mining/staking power to override consensus.

So I'd say they're not exactly the same.

Plasticky and creaky, at least for the BYDs that UberX drivers use in Mexico.

They do have a lot of space / leg room.

I don’t see any reason to buy one over a Tesla except for saving money.

vlabakje90 · a month ago
And who would want to save money, right?

Chain of Thought. When I see people using abbreviations like this I sometimes jokingly wonder what they do with all this time they're saving.

Realistically, the choice is going to be between Turkey and Turkiye. Most people aren't going to go through the hassle of adding the umlaut. Countries can request that people refer to them anything within reason, and in this case reason dictates that it be constrained by ASCII characters like every other country in the world. I think people might make the exception within certain formal contexts, but not in a random Hacker News post.
vlabakje90 · 9 months ago
Not every other country in the world only uses ASCII, Ivory Coast is officially called Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

Pro cameras do not do this to any degree.

Edit: by default.

vlabakje90 · 9 months ago
The cameras themselves might not, but in order to get a decent picture you will need to apply demosaicing and gamma correction in software at the very least, even with high end cameras.

Psilocybin tolerance starts building immediately. Even if you microdose (100 mg), it will stop being effective after 3-4 days.
vlabakje90 · 10 months ago
100mg psilocybin is several times a heroic dose, but 100ug is far below a microdose. Do you mean 100mg of dried mushrooms?

BTW: in the EU there is movement towards mandating ISPs allow BYOD, including fibre ONTs.

Mandatory in the Netherlands, since last year.
