There's not a lot you can contribute unless you worked on the ticket. Notice how the only example you came up with was refactoring.

This was more important back in the day but now linters and formatters are mainstream.

The best time to code-review is at the beginning.

I personally know two authors who have approached me about creating simple sites where they can sell their self-published books and blog about their book's content.
ulisesrmzroche · 4 years ago
I doubt it but even then it doesn’t extrapolate any further.

As a dev, it’s your job to tell the client what’s good for them and it sure isn’t this.

Ghost seems interesting, but is it a Wordpress replacement? If I wanted to create a simple site for an author, where they can sell a couple of books directly from the site. Can Ghost allow this? With Wordpress, I can quickly grab a theme and install a couple of plugins to get this working for free, save hosting and maybe a single theme purchase.

And where are you gonna find this supposed author?

Interesting how it went from 'just a blogging platform' to 'turn your audience into a business'.

Not really, even if you’re being sarcastic.

> jQuery was making up for browser API shortcomings

While this is true, I can still code circles around frontend developers using vanilla JS.

The decline of jQuery is mostly due to the rise of webapp frameworks like React and Vue. But if you are tasked with adding like, a button to a static webpage, jQuery is still the king.

I call bullshit on all accounts. If someone actually tasked you with adding a button to a webpage...

That's what I tried to tell students at a bootcamp, but then I never got hired back. They could just fuck off whenever they wanted to go play mario kart, and I tried to tell them that's not what they were paying them for.

No clue if any made it
