Not sure why you were downvoted. This should be the default comment on any new service Google presents.

For zsh users who like this idea and don't want to have to worry about anything leaving the device (not to insinuate that Atuin is doing anything below board, I don't think they are) I built my own version of this for myself called raven:

https://github.com/tylersaunders/raven

Raven has no sync component, stores your history in a sqlite, and never tries to move data off the device. It has a similar / large overlap in features with Atuin.

Sharing here in case anyone else could benefit from it, it only supports zsh for the moment since that's what I use.

Atuin is great though!

For people OK with syncing to their own server, Atuin can be self-hosted as well

When you buy a company you buy all of its contractual obligations. You don't get to choose to not honor some of them without legal repercussions.

yes, what happened to due diligence? sounds like a BS excuse to cancel the subs.

This is outrage bait and pretty low even for CNN.
tledakis · 8 months ago
Why do you say that? I checked the policy change and they have removed the literal "don't do this" example and the whole category above it.

Seeing as FB moderation was already lax on hate speech, do you think calling women 'household objects' will not be permitted in the future FB?

It’s not an individual customer thing. It’s a subsidy for early customers to get market share > raise prices.

What I'm hearing:

1) Security is important.

2) The government should subsidize our infrastructure costs.

3) The government should restrict chip and code deployment in other countries to keep AI here.

4) We need to build up a bureaucracy of some kind to regulate this tech.

I'm not at all sure what "democratic AI protocols" is supposed to mean, but the main thrust of this piece isn't substantially different than most of what we've been seeing from Altman in his lobbying efforts. Translated from lobbyist-speak, to me this says "My company is losing its lead and isn't confident we'll be able to keep up going forward. I need you, the governments of the world, to do something about that ASAP. Here are some vaguely national-security-related justifications you can use to sell it to your voters."
