It's actually not that complex. They're not misrepresenting themselves as the brands. They're not in the same industry as the brands. The standard is not "if anyone could think this was real".

I wouldn't be so sure. Jack Daniels sued (and won) against a maker of dog toys that looked like Jack Daniels but were named "Bad Spaniels". Turns out trademark law actually is complex.

I wonder, though, could this be considered an unconstitutional bill of attainder? That's an act of a legislature declaring a person, or a group of people, guilty of some crime, and punishing them, without a trial. Article I, Section 9, iii: "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed".

That's one of the arguments being made by TikTok in their challenge against the "TikTok ban" bill.

Am I the only person who wonders how "Marilyn Vos Savant" also happens to be the smartest person?

If you didn't notice, "Savant" means smart.

So is it just a coincidence? Karma? The pressure of carrying such a name drove her to smartness?

Same, until I went to the US where nothing is standardized and somehow there's private companies worth billions that cover this precise use case. It's actually mind blowing.

The single banking system of Canada is a massive win in this regards

Interac is also a for-profit corporation. It's just owned by an association of banks. Zelle would be the equivalent in the US.

> I’ve come to associate it with an attempt to will the Fed into doing what they want.

Because that's what it is. Powell tried to raise rates early in the pandmeic and wall st. meltdown successfully got him to lower them back down. It worked before so they're trying again.

When did Powell try and raise rates early in the pandemic? You might have your timelines confused, it was well before the pandemic.

I wonder if that accounts for the Activision purchase?

If it's just purely revenue, yeah, that's ugly. Sad because I got the Xbox Game Pass maybe 3 months ago and while I rarely game, I've really enjoyed it - the fact that I can just hop on and play whatever I want in the cloud is really cool. The fact that it comes bundled with all EA games too is great. Will suck when they inevitably have to bump up prices, because right now it's the best value in gaming hands down.

Activision purchase hasn't closed yet.

Access to 80 generics. So $5 for what a normal pharmacy charges $0? (minus the shipping to your door part)

Maybe I'm missing something...

tdhoot · 3 years ago
$0 with insurance maybe. This is $5 for all your medications, shipped, without insurance necessary. Seems like a pretty good deal IMO, esp. if you're taking multiple medications.

The US only insured accounts up to 250K so its common to split up accounts for that reason.

what a great problem to have

tdhoot · 3 years ago
It's only $250K per account category per bank. So 5 savings accounts would only get $250K in coverage in total.
