The sixties ended before I was born. Why do they have to keep coming back to life? I just keep getting older, but the boomers have an eternal youth of reviving their favorite decade.

The mainstream audience was young and open to new ideas. Folks could create new things that impacted the culture at large and in that way punch above their weight class. In NYC, people could create art movements that would live for the next 50 years. Sort of like the way kids could create new technology in a garage in Silicon Valley in the 70s, or a dorm room in the 00s. It was a time in culture where the doors were open and you could have profound impact. The doors closed again, so people look back and have an appreciation for what was possible and what became and perhaps long for it again.

I'm a huge fan of Kaufman's work but only recently saw Synecdoche, New York, which immediately became my favorite movie, ever. That led me down a rabbit hole of listening to basically every recorded interview he's ever given. He's absolutely brilliant, sincerely humble, probably depressed, and just an absolute joy to listen to. I have a simple quote from him on my computer that I look at from time to time:

I try to do what I can to put something in the world that is not garbage.

I took a first date to Synecdoche, New York and we didn't have a second (good film though).

Some people want to create. Some people want to consume. Some people want to collect. Sometimes consumables become collectible (Baseball cards). Sometimes collectibles become consumable (Mona Lisa postcards). Creators are allowed to decide who their market is and adjust as they see fit.

Reddit is banking on the mods coming back and re-opening the subreddit to avoid being ousted. Mods who have put their heart and soul into a sub for years won't want to give it up so easily.

It sounded like they were willing to remove the mods and let the forums pick new ones

What are you guys currently using for Stable Diffusion on OSX with M1?

There are so many variants and forks that I don't know which one to install any more. Something that takes advantage of Metal and the CPU cores.

Any that retains the "upload a sketch and then add a description" feature?

People keep pointing to Armstrong's $110M house like it's some sort of injustice. If you think billionaires should exist at all, then that's one of the least-bad injustices imaginable

Ok, I'll admit it, billionaires should not exist at all, there should be a heavy wealth tax that makes it hard to become a billionaire. Will a CEO work less hard if he (and his peers) can only ever gain $100M in net worth before a wealth tax on assets kicks in?

Imagine if billionaires had the same _effective_ tax rate we do. That would be helpful enough.

It'd be pretty novel and refreshing if Apple competed for developer buy-in for payments on features and functionality.
