seanvelasco commented on The web does not need gatekeepers: Cloudflare’s new “signed agents” pitch   positiveblue.substack.com... · Posted by u/positiveblue

as a Cloudflare customer, I am happy with their proposition. I personally do not want companies like Perplexity that fake their user-agent and ignore my robots.txt to trespass.

and isn't this why people sign up with Cloudflare in the first place? for bot protection? to me, this is just the same, but with agents.

i love the idea of an open internet, but this requires all party to be honest. a company like Perplexity that fakes their user-agent to get around blocks disrespects that idea.

my attitude towards agents is positive. if a user used an LLM to access my websites and web apps, i'm all for it. but the LLM providers must disclose who they are - that they are OpenAI, Google, Meta, or the snake oil company Perplexity

i'm curious, what's the worst-case scenario if one were to put their whole DNA data exposed publicly? would a future civilization re-make your image? or are there societal benefits?

i love small apps like these

just a feedback: app becomes super laggy when you try to edit a gif. if you do make a fix, can you share the solution here in the reply? i too struggle with it in some of my apps haha

also, i can't find the button to reset the canvas so i can upload again

seanvelasco commented on AI Accent Conversion for call centers   krisp.ai/accent-conversio... · Posted by u/KoftaBob

majority of Filipinos DO NOT speak like that. the Filipino actors in the demo particularly perform a caricature of a what a Filipino sounds like that's exaggerated. i know for a fact the actors don't speak like that in real life.

in professional settings, Filipinos are known for a lack of accent. they are more known for mispronouncing words that are commonly accepted in Filipino-English.

i feel like it should be the other way around. accents should be converted FOR the caller or call center.

callers can be trained to speak a certain way. but it's more difficult for them to develop the "ear" to understand accents from other nationals.

there was a better LinkedIn, it was called Read.cv. unfortunately, they've been bought by Perplexity (which is a shame because Read.cv is a perfect product while Perplexity is snake oil)

i wish they picked a more unique name. to me, it just seems like they're a copycat by picking a name that's a synonym - or at least of the same nature - of the word "Discord"

same with the streaming platforms Twitch and Kick

looking at their UI, it's the exact same UI as Discord. no improvements while also inheriting the same flaws that make using Discord neurotic

getting tired of these blog posts that end with "this post is AI-generated" as if it's going to surprise us. it's getting repetitive. imo, articles should be prefaced if they're ai generated or not to make the reader not feel stupid after reading the whole thing

with that said, i love the content! will be bookmarking for future reference

seanvelasco commented on TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users   nbcnews.com/tech/tech-new... · Posted by u/Leary

The Guardian and many other newspapers appear to be controlled by the CCP as well:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/dec/23/israel...

The UN is controlled by the CCP:

there's truth to your two statements. if not the CCP, then another foreign adversary.

The Guardian is notorious for being biased against Israel, along with other news organizations like the New York Times and even the BBC.

The UN and other organizations like Amnesty International are openly biased against Israel.

there are good people working in those organizations. and i genuinely believe people who work there want to do good in the world.

but there's no denying that those organizations they work for are compromised.

> young people who otherwise do not hold a negative opinion towards Israel suddenly became anti-Israel

You're not seriously blaming TikTok for anti-Israel sentiment?! Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the genocide being carried out by the apartheid state of Israel?

seanvelasco · 7 months ago
i looked at your profile and just doing a ctrl + f on pages 1 and 2, there's 82 mentions of the word "Israel"

why are you so obsessed with the State of Israel? and i thought i was a superfan of Israel

do you seriously believe Israel is behind the TikTok ban (as you claimed in your other comment)?

and do you seriously believe there are Hasbara in HN? most people in HN are anti-Israel
