As a UK user I find Kagi returns results from Australia far too often which is a super weird issue DDG used to have as well

I'm a UK Kagi user and do not have this issue.

Perhaps it is your IP range? Do you have the same problem on mobile and broadband?

Don't think it's particularly innovative really - a lot of electricians in the UK are now installing the Quinetic - https://www.quinetic.co.uk/ - system and it works really well in terms of wireless switches.

Mostly it's not to save the cost of the actual cable - but to save the install cost on an old brick building, where installing a new switch requires fairly extensive work to the house and brickwork.

What sort of force is required to activate them, is touch enough? Do they make noise to click?

There is a podcast too which I listen to on the go.

I’m also American and living in Europe for the past decade, and having dived into history such as Roman, Carthage, the Celts, … has really made me appreciate the vast history of our species. I can drive down the ride and see a huge castle the was attacked by Hannibal on his quest for Rome.

And my native friends where I live couldn’t care less :(

I hope America can preserve its history for a while so others can enjoy it in 1000 years like we do with Rome.

It is easier to learn multiple languages when you are young.

There isn't a lot of good evidence behind this popular conception.

If anything, the evidence is that it isn't true, see https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal...

Any apparent causality of age of acquisition seems to be a proxy of hours of exposure. It may well be that it is easier for young people to rack up a lot of exposure to a second language, but not much evidence that age plays much of a factor for people of different ages who had the same degree of exposure.

Somewhere very recently I encountered a quote from Ansel Adams, in which he seemed to anticipate that "electronic" photos would be the next big thing, in (IIRC) 1980. Wish I could find that again. Seemed remarkably prescient.
robga · 2 years ago
It was in Playboy (May 1983)

https://petapixel.com/2022/07/30/ansel-adamss-interview-with...

“There’s no end in sight. Electronic photography will soon be superior to anything we have now. The first advance will be the exploration of existing negatives. I believe the electronic process will enhance them. I could get superior prints from my negatives using electronics.

“Then the time will come when you will be able to make the entire photograph electronically. With the extremely high resolution and enormous control you can get from electronics, the results will be fantastic. I wish I were young again!”

What user need does encoding area in the number serve? What’s wrong with a random 8-10 digit number?

I can understand the inverse, so that you don’t have similar numbers nearby (as in RingGo).
