pricci commented on Take a look at Traefik, even if you don't use containers   j6b72.de/article/why-you-... · Posted by u/q2loyp

I use caddy rather traefik. It's much easier to manage the Caddyfile compared to the traefik YAML config IMO, and we just keep three separate Caddyfiles for local, production and on-prem deployments. There are a plethora of great plugins, we use the coraza WAF plugin for caddy and it works well.

I moved from Traefik to Caddy with caddy-docker-proxy for my self-hosting setup.

All the features I need but *much* simpler.

Great article! I had a similar set up using zsh and fzf but recently switched to https://atuin.sh/ and can't recommended it enough. It just works and I love the default built in search by current directory vs global.

Search by current directory is the killer feature IMO. Was initially recluctant to use atuin, thinking that fish's history was enough, but now I'm sold.

I have sync disabled, though.

Does anyone know of a good way to have an Android phone ring from another Android phone, without sharing all account access ?

My wife keeps her phone on silent but loses it multiple times a day. We use the computer to make it ring using Find my Device, but it'd be a lot easier if I could just do it from my phone, which I can if I install the app and then add her Google account to the accounts on my phone, but then I get access (and notified of) all her emails, google photos and stuff like that.

Is there an alternative ? Some way to just have both phones agree to sync somehow and then one can make the other ring, regardless of sound settings.

You could try KDE Connect.

And use Tailscale to create a secure network

Does Excalidraw[1] fit the bill?

Tailscale recently added local file transfers called Taildrop https://tailscale.com/kb/1106/taildrop This really solved this issue for me, right click a file and select the receiving peer and it just appears instantly on the other device.

In tailscale you also can expose a server to the internet with Funnel https://tailscale.com/kb/1223/funnel

There’s other great TUI terminal tools like dive here [0], lazydocker and dry come to mind.

And some in the docker category as well:

Lazydocker has a similar, although simpler, funtionality.

Edit: just checked and it allows to see the layers, but only shows the commands of each one

What is the threat model that this protects against?

Someone booting something on your computer without you consent. You can add your own keys and sign the bootloaders of your OSs/LiveCDs/Thumbdrives

Nix package manager's `nix-shell` is something I wish more people knew about. Nix is gaining some popularity, but people often think of using it has to be a really big commitment, like changing your Linux distro to NixOS or replacing your dotfiles with a Nix-based one (using the Nix package manager).

What I wish more people knew was that you don't need to do those things to get value from Nix. Create project specific dev shells that install the packages (at the correct versions) to work with that project can almost replace 90% of the docs for getting setup to work on a project.

Although I haven't really used it, jetpack.io's Devbox [0] is an abstraction over Nix for the usage you describe.

When the recipient receives your emails, doesn't it show it was sent via the original Gmail account upon closer inspection?
pricci · 2 years ago
Yes, the original email address appears in the headers (In gmail you can click "see full email" if I remember correctly)
