Comments like this do not make HN a better place. If you think helmets are a safety hazard, please make your case rather than mocking the OP.

> If I was a staff rider, I'd be putting that helmet on and telling Pedal Me to eat an OSHA-sized bag of dicks if they have a problem with it.

And then they would fire you and you will have to find a company that allow helmets and everyone will be happy

ah, but you see, they don't actually employ you

it's telling that the value change in these things is always denominated in USD. it's almost as if they don't have any intrinsic value.

This post nicely sums up why I just cannot get excited about anyone's announcement of some new and (on paper) awesome SBC with specs much better than those of a contemporary Raspberry Pi.

Software ecosystem support is THE killer feature for this class of device. And the RPI has, despite its fundamental shortcomings (needing the proprietary GPU to manage bootup, etc.), the best story in that particular department by so much that it's not even a contest.

> despite its fundamental shortcomings (needing the proprietary GPU to manage bootup, etc

far from being a fundamental shortcoming, that's entirely inconsequential.

Indeed, I do sometimes wonder what it'd be like if they made the entire processor out of E cores.

that's the Phi.

Rechargeable AAAs are crap though. Power density sucks. Voltage level sucks (and voltage regulators will suck the battery dry before your micro does). And the form factor sucks.

I'd sooner have a 18650-family (e.g. 14240 or 14500) become standard than a bunch of AAAs.

Battery hipsterism. Oh HN, you keep giving.

It's weird to me how there are things I really dislike but everyone else do like and they wonder why I don't like it even though I seem to be the targeted audience. From the top of my head:

    - Monty python
    - Mister Bean
    - Stanley Parable
    - Gris
And I enjoy these:

    - Rick and Morty
    - Star Trek lower deck
    - The Witness
    - Knytt/What happened to Edith Finch/Dear Esther
I played a bit of Stanley Parable on 3 occasions but found it empty and pretentious (same opinion on Gris). To each its own but there are some preferences I can't precisely tell why it clicks or not yet.

not weird, you're just a youngish american.
