These are good alternatives to have, but a solid chunk of the "youtube economy" is about selling ad time so creators can make a living creating content. I hate ads as much as the next person but we need to recognize that the issue is not purely technical.

Definitely, hard to compete with YouTube as a revenue source. That being said, my instance is mainly for digitizing and hosting old VHS tapes from my family so they don't get lost over the years. No need for advertising there :)

It's not a perfect platform, but generally does well enough from my home server and a gigabit fiber connection.

ASUSTOR's latest gen hardware is ridiculous. Ryzen processors, upgradeable ECC RAM, 4xHDD + 4xNVMe, 10GbE plus a PCIe slot...

You need to add an external GPU for TrueNAS installation, but they have an official video for that. On top of that, they connected the flash which stores the original firmware to its own USB port, and you can disable it. Preventing both interference and protecting the firmware from accidental erasure.

All over great design.

Yes, it's not cheap, but it's almost enterprise class hardware for home, and that's a good thing.

Installed unraid on it and it's been working great. So long, Synology.

Yes, honestly been much more reliable than my previous provider (mailgun). Their IPs were constantly getting on spam blocklists with yahoo and hotmail. No issues with zepto so far, been using about 9 months.

Great move. Will probably switch to it immediately from Sendgrid as soon as it goes GA.

Sendgrid recently killed their free tier (100 emails per day) and their lowest plan is now $20/month for 50,000 emails. It's totally overkill for low traffic projects.

Now do the math on driving your RV everywhere (or purchasing a separate smaller vehicle that you can use to get around town, and tow behind the RV when traveling). I'd assume that would cost more.

How? If we split by political grouping all the major population centers go Blue everywhere else goes Red? Unless we have a very polite split (unlikely in this case) the Blue side is just signing up to starve to death.

Surprising there’s no matte-black iPhone 17 Pro - dark, low-reflectance finishes are standard in pro video kit because they minimise specular reflections and stray highlights; keeping a shiny silver finish and skipping a subdued matte black feels like a strange choice and undercuts the “Pro” claim.

Looks nice, and good demo. Maybe add a section to the site or the github showing browser support? I have some custom webcam capture stuff on my app but I need to make sure it works everywhere. Lastly, does it work with react native?
