If you know anything about music production, you'd know it's a very valid critique. Not sure why you took it so personally, though.

Yea its obviously valid.. you think the dude just bossed up and made a daw for this crazy hostile build target without knowing how people use them?

I took it personally because all these hacker news retards want to nitpick a hobby project when a post like this (really cool, non-axios.com-tech-guy-libertarian-shit) shows up to feel like they have a big dick despite not being able to build something half as cool themselves

You are saying this, not me.

Yea I’m mocking you because if you couldn’t tell how annoying your obvious “constructive” criticism was going to sound, you’ve got some significant barriers to overcome

Do any of these browser projects support existing plug-ins?

A lot of people making music have spent $$$ on plugins, and just on the sheer R&D they've received, are going to sound considerably better than anything someone who is focused on writing a DAW can make.

Plus, from my own experience, I have 20+ years working with FLStudio and know the program inside and out. Abandoning that plus my investments in VSTs is simply a no-go.

So, good luck, but you've got some significant barriers to overcome.

Yea what an idiot to not make this free proof of concept of a browser daw targeted at 20+ years power users

I can’t relate at all to that sentiment. California has got to be one of the most bloated and wasteful state governments in the entire US. High taxes and nothing to show for it. The entrenched far left seems bent on destroying the middle class, driving out business, regulating everything to death and displacing merit as a selection factor.

Whatever glory Cali has— tech, entertainment, farming, weather, natural beauty— is in spite of govt rather than because of it.

ksm1717 · 3 years ago
I promise you that California is not entrenched with anyone remotely far to the left

This is super cool and if I was working on more personal projects I would be tempted. In an enterprise context, moving to a reimplementation of core Node APIs is a terrifying prospect. There are infinite possible subtle problems that can appear and debugging even within official Node has been a challenge in the past. I don't know how this concern can be alleviated without seeing proven usage and broader community acceptance.

Driver's license.

Maybe it sounds obvious, but if you don't have a license, you are crippling yourself.

Even if you don't have a car, not having a license means you don't even have the option of renting one. Also, is is so "obvious" that if an employer notices that you don't have it, he will wonder why. Are you too stupid to drive? Crippled in some way? Economic problems? Have some criminal history? Alcoholic? You may have a legitimate reason, but it is still a red flag and you may need to clear yourself.

Second and just as obvious is a degree. Not so important if you have experience (though some large companies care), but a degree may be the key to a good first job that may launch the rest of your career.

I have never felt the need for any technical certification, not personally, the few I needed were paid by my employer for a specific mission, and done during work hours. Didn't get much use after that. Since I am not an English speaker, I probably could want something like a decent TOEIC score if I wanted to work in a large company in an English speaking country, but I am net even sure.
