I remember this came with a SoundBlaster card back in the early 90s. This was the delight of the adults back then (I was just about 10 then) who got fooled into getting hours and hours of psychotherapy sessions from Dr Sbaitso. And it kindof worked... But it's amazing how a simple program could give the appearance of thinking whereas most of it happened inside our own heads responding to questions. Nowadays we have LLMs which while they don't use deflection as the main trick, we are still projecting some kind of intelligence to it.

They did that here in the Phillipines and they exploit the poor. They give money for people to allow them to scan their eyes. These people do not know the consequences of what they are doing.

Fun fact: GCC decided to adopt Clang's (old) behavior at the same time Clang decided to adopt GCC's (old) behavior.

So now you have this matrix of behaviors: * Old GCC: Initializes whole union. * New GCC: Initializes first member only. * Old Clang: Initializes first member only. * New Clang: Initializes whole union.

I remember one of the students in our school replaced the Windows 95 startup logo with the goatse.cx picture of every computer of a new lab, the rector of the moment called an emergency gathering in the gym BEGGING the students to change it back . promising that there would be no repercussions, he was sweating blood, because authorities picked our school to inaugurate the computer national program that made the lab possible, the next day. nobody talked, they had to change the inauguration to another school, fun times.

It is the logo.sys which is actually a bitmap file if I remember it correctly.
iamthejuan commented on The new science of controlling lucid dreams   scientificamerican.com/ar... · Posted by u/cainxinth

For anyone not familiar, a common class of techniques people used to use (still do? Not mentioned in the article) involve regularly testing yourself to see if you're in a dream. Counting your fingers; in dreams, you may not have 5 per finger. (Sound familiar from a modern take?) Or, look at numbers and words; a digital clock; in dreams they may not make sense, but in real life they do. (OK, this is really sounding familiar...)

The idea is that when you check while awake, you will pass the awake-check, but set up a habit pattern. While dreaming, you will observe weird stuff when this happens, realize it must then you must be dreaming; you then become lucid, and can sort of control the dream, or at least be aware you're dreaming.

It may or may not have worked for me a handful of times. It certainly felt so, but only briefly, and I can't confirm it was the desired effect. Would wake up shortly after each time.

But if a person decided to count fingers to check if he is dreaming then he is already in lucid dreaming right? Because normally you do not know you are in a dream unless you are already in lucid dreaming.

I find it pretty cool how the spread of Christianity can be tracked so finely that a 50 update in earliest arrival time is exciting!

I started listening to a podcast called "the history of the early church" to learn a bit more about that but unfortunately I think the target audience was Christians interested in theology rather than nerds interested in history. Recommendations for books etc are welcome!

Author sounds young .. yes, absolutely try to consume less and create more, it's way more life-affirming than the opposite configuration, but:

Getting better at your job, like everything else in life, is just a function of time. Show up, and then show up consistently. Put in the time. Be patient. Lead with an open mind and an open heart -- opportunities go to those who are present way more often than those who aren't. Willingly take on shitty jobs, do them well, and you'll find yourself being trusted with bigger and better jobs. Learn when to be the worker bee and when to be the queen bee. Say "yes" until you're truly able to say "no". Try to accept that, at the end of the day, things don't matter as much as you think they might -- I'm talking about projects, stress, deadlines, shit that floods your veins with cortisol. The only thing people will truly remember is how you made them feel during a crisis, not the minutiae of what you actually contributed -- and those personal relationships will be the gasoline in the engine of your career.

I really believe people will go far if they focus on this kind of stuff, and way less on structured self-improvement, productivity hacking, finding "secrets", shortcuts via programs, seminars, coaches, and tools, and all that shallow, nutritionless baloney.

I am genuinely looking forward for the success of this project. I am just wondering will this support scripting language like VBA for Microsoft Excel?

I have a lifetime subscription plan and as I was going to check my account today, I do not see anything in their library. It is just blank screen with company footer. I have tried forgetting password but it says "The user doesn't belong to Nebula". Has anyone experienced this?
