I think that's backwards, higher HRV is better?
go_prodev · 6 months ago
Yes, higher is better. The CPAP lowers HRV during use.

Hold my CPAP

Here's a fun fact, the CPAP machine lowers my Heart Rate Variability. HRV spikes when I sleep part of the night without it.

How does it compare to https://www.chartjs.org/ ?
go_prodev · 9 months ago
It's much heavier but a lot more powerful and flexible.

Just be careful that you don't anonymize your production data.

Of course it's NileRed. (fixed!)

Does he ever talk about where he gets his gear? I know some of it is secondhand salvage... but I feel like there's some "family" component, or at least was at the beginning.

He addressed the "dad paid for everything" rumors in a recent video.

From memory he just worked for it, bought secondhand and then made a lot of money through YouTube.

It is hard to find the link for Windows download, most people (especially us dumb Windows users) want to find a link and download, not scroll a bunch then go to another page then scroll some more and make a decision about which one of 20 links they need. It is not that hard, especially for most people on HN but it does add friction to people trying your software. This is a very common thing with other projects so not just picking on this one.

Finally, when it does load on my Windows machine (using MSI installer and after convincing Microsoft that it is safe to run and bypassing their warning) it loads up super tiny on my 4k laptop screen and is unusable. I suppose I could mess about with the compatibility and scaling settings but I kind of lost interest after all of the above.

I tell you all this because obviously a lot of work went into this tool and from the screenshots it looks beautiful and useful, but is let down by the process involved to get it to run, at least on my machine.

For now, I will keep running HxD.

Maybe they've updated it, but I found a Windows MSI link about halfway down the front page.
go_prodev commented on How many High Streets are there in London?   diamondgeezer.blogspot.co... · Posted by u/zeristor

Diamond Geezer has been blogging for years and definitely understands what a high street is. In fact he’s probably planning a follow-up already about High Roads. (There’s already a visit to the shortest high streets as a follow-up: https://diamondgeezer.blogspot.com/2024/06/londons-shortest-...)
go_prodev · 2 years ago
Streatham High Road still seems like a grey area that should be considered a high street.

It probably was a road (connecting 2 towns with no houses) when it was first named, but is more of a street (with housing either side) now, and is definitely the primary commercial street in Streatham.

I sell a JS/TS graphing library, so B2B, developer-to-developer.

We decided to just have an indefinite trial period (library has a watermark) and instead offer 30 days of free support. That way we can help people get started and realize their proof of concept, but if they want to start evaluating on their own time they can do so without worrying about any clock. This makes it much easier for customers who are trying to evaluate multiple options at once.

I'm always exploring new graphing libraries. Are you happy to share a link to yours?
go_prodev commented on Sleep apnea: Mouthguards less invasive, just as effective as CPAP   newatlas.com/medical/slee... · Posted by u/peutetre

These are quite uncomfortable, actually. They can have a negative impact on your teeth and jaws (says my dentist friend who wears one every night). So less invasive => yes, but still far from perfect.
go_prodev · 2 years ago
I was fitted for one, and was told that the lower jaw is held forward by using the upper teeth as an anchor. Over time they can cause upper and lower teeth to move.
