Thats ... false. Every bank I have used in Denmark allows me to log in and do all operations without an app. They require authentication and authorization using the national digital identity (MitID) which comes as an app, but also as a TOTP token and a FIDO (or similar) chip. No apps needed.

I guess the smartcard reader is equivalent. But my point is that locking down the OS of the phone is sufficient to establish client trust but not necessary. You should always be allowed to run the app without strong Play Integrity verification but then just be required to scan your hardware token with NFC in every authentication and authorization flow.

That's mostly prevalent in third-world countries like Brazil. I work for a fintech-turned-bank here and the biggest problem we have to deal with is fraudulent actions made by scammers who got access to users' accounts via social engineering. Outsiders don't know how prevalent scamming is in Brazil and how much is spent/lost trying to fight them and how that shapes the security vs convenience landscape. For example:

- I can't transfer a single cent if I didn't had my face and documents scanned after installing the bank app.

- I can't have the same bank account logged in two of my devices at the same time, all banks require you to use an account on a "verified" device (previous point).

- If I want to use a desktop to access my bank account, I have to either install a desktop client provided by the bank or be limited to just checking my balance. Some banks doesn't even allow you to log in if you don't have a "verified" device for doing 2FA.

I am very sure my higher ups are cheering with these news, even though it solves none of the problems.

I mean, the top just happens because color has 'inherit' by default. The latter is specificity, and normally what I think of when I hear "cascading". But, it turns out that isn't cascading either [0].

Cascading refers to the order stylesheets have priority when loaded by the browser. Going to have to update my definitions for the future. I always thought cascading referred to how specificity worked.

Edit: no wait, specificity is part of cascading, cascading refers to the entire process of determining which style applies, including specificity. Inheritance on the other hand is not part of cascading. My definitions were right, don't need to relearn anything.

>But, it turns out that isn't cascading either

The order in which stylesheets are loaded and it's origin is just part of the cascading algorithm. See the "Cascading order" section https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Cascade#cas...

Taking just the naming into account or listing other things with milk in their name is missing the point. Those are not sold as direct competition to dairy milk. Looking up how those nut milks are made, we might as well call it almond juice ou pecan juice. If almond milk is to be sold as an alternative to cow milk, and most importantly marketed as such, then butter can be sold as an alternative jelly for people with diabetes.

I personally find it's very disappointing that the game is almost entirely visually indistinct from Stardew Valley. In fact even the sound effects are identical. I understand that this saves a lot of time and money, but this feels more like bonus content or an impressive mod of SDV than really having its own new identity. I'm sure a vast majority of people are in the "don't care, this is exactly what I want" category, and I wish that were me too, but unfortunately it's just not happening for me.

For me it's a big win. SV art style is unique and feels like it came from Eric's heart. For me the improvements are clear if compared to SV, but the style is the same. And being able to enjoy the same art style in a somewhat different context is exciting.

Stardew Valley is a wonderful example of what a great game framework XNA was, and what a shame that it did not receive continuing development from Microsoft. An amazingly productive tool for one person or a small team.

I'm not sure if he has moved on to Monogame (I assume he must have by now).

>I'm not sure if he has moved on to Monogame

>Is it the same engine as Stardew Valley?

>No, it’s a new engine written in C#/Monogame… however there are some areas where I can reuse code from Stardew Valley, so that is nice.

Well, given that chicken is mostly tasteless, and nuggets are highly flavoured to make them appealing, that's not surprising at all. Might have been made out of cardboard if you can mix it with the right things to get the consistency close.

gnagatomo · 4 years ago
This already happened. The Federal Police uncovered that Brazilian company JBS, the largest meat processing company in the world[0], was selling rotten beef and minced meat mixed with minced cardboard[1][2]. People didn't noticed until news came in.

people have been programmed, on a massive scale, to react emotionally to certain learned key phrases and terms. when this automatic emotional reaction occurs, all logical processing ceases immediately, and the person you're talking to either immediately leaves the conversation (if you're lucky) or starts emotionally, verbally attacking you as though your non-conforming line of thought is a pathogen and their overreacting response is an antibody swarm. you're a strawman caricature of everything evil and wrong if you question basic learned political orthodoxy, even if you make it clear you're approaching the topic with an open mind.

TV and social media "debates" between politicians are 100% posturing, signaling, and rhetoric without any substance, and almost nobody can see it, everyone thinks their guy won.

it's as though we've forgotten how to think for ourselves and have opinions and stances that lay outside dogmatic groupthink. I even know a few people who think of themselves as "free thinkers" who nevertheless hitch their proverbial cart to some political eceleb personality's proverbial horse, buying into everything they say, wholesale.

people want to be told what to think, not how to think, as it's much easier that way.

Oh, very cool!

If you're into this stuff I recommend the artist "Master Boot Record". In particular, they have "Keygen Church" side-project thats epically awesome.

Go open your text editor (vim, right?) to do some coding/etc and listen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJtVDEx2HSk. No matter what you do, ~20 minutes later it'll have been epic.

MBR's website[0], album covers[1] and whole branding are such a throwback and amazing works of art. I personally recommend his retro music covers[2], genially bundled under the name WAREZ.
