fortzi commented on What happens when ambassadors are summoned by the host country?   politics.stackexchange.co... · Posted by u/azeemba

There is an element of theatre involved, but it is also a way of sending a very clear signal that the France is not satisfied with the ambassador's behaviour.

When everything is going well, meetings between the Foreign Office and ambassadors remain private. The fact that the ambassador did not attend the meeting himself but sent a subordinate is a public affront.

What is strange is that the US ambassador's communication is not really intended for the French or French jews, but is merely a sign of support for Israel.

There is currently an Israeli media offensive in France followin President Macron's comments on the recognition of a Palestinian state. The Israeli state and its supporters are buying advertising spots on YouTube and Instagram to encourage French Jews to do their ahria with free money.

There are regular attempts to exploit anti-Semitic crimes or news stories to claim that France is hell on earth for Jews and that Israel is there to save them. But then again, we haven't yet seen Belgian commandos coming to kidnap people in France or Luxembourgers launching rockets.

The only new thing is that the US ambassador is taking part in this type of operation and behaving like an arsehole with the French Foreign Office.

Not all hate crimes involve rockets. I know a few Jews who grew up in France, and all of them report antisemitic incidents that happened to them personally, some physically violent. I’m talking mid-day paris, not some otherwise sketchy circumstances. They all fear being identified as jews in the streets of Paris.

It's absurdist whataboutery from Kushner, and no doubt the Israeli foreign ministry pulling the strings.

One does not equate to the other.

What it does do however is undermine current Israeli domestic policy, which can be neatly summed up as keeping their PM out of prison by focusing on the external enemy.

I believe you’re giving the worst Israeli government of all times too much credit, as if it’s able to “pull the strings” in Washington

Every French jew that I know has been dealing with direct antisemitism in France, sometimes violent. Your comment seems to downplay that.

I tried to install Signal once. First, it checks and matches your phone number. Strange, but acceptable. Then, it shows a Google Captcha [0], which sends my data to Google. I checked Signal's Privacy Policy and there are no details data sharing [1].

Signal might be good at message encryption, but let's not forget that it handles user privacy unacceptably poorly.

This is incredibly nitpicky compared to the low standard that Whatsapp is held to

Why are we toppling all these foreign governments and creating instability that breads terrorism in places that otherwise have nothing to do with us?

This seems so exceptionally counter productive.

IRGC is known for funding and training militant and terrier groups globally. They also call for the annihilation of the Big Satan (USA) and the Small Satan (Israel). All the while running for The Bomb. I wouldn’t call the present sutuation stable.

It shows a pattern of Intel investing in Israel due to ideology versus business reasons. Zionists may not like it, but it’s directly related to their Jewish supremacist beliefs that Intel keeps investing so much money in the middle of a war zone.

Do we really want to avoid discussion about ideology in business investments? The fact that this site flags any mention of Palestine is irresponsible. This site really needs to figure out a way to not let Zionists control the business discussion.

It’s Ok to allow discussion of the negative consequences of Zionists ideology on technology businesses.

Companies don’t have feelings like you do, and they don’t have ideologies. They do what they think will make them money.

I wonder why there's no mention of a free education as an alternative solution to the broken system

It may be better to start with understanding why on earth the it’s so expensive to get educated in the USA, while in other countries it’s much cheaper, even when unsubsidized

The space is an uncountable set, at the limit. Mostly it’s noise. See: curse of dimensionality.
fortzi · a year ago
If I’m not mistaking, the coordinates in any given latent space (in this context) are countable, as there is a finite amount of dimentions. You can even only consider the space enveloped by the already explored coordinates (e.g. English words), to get a finite space which can be fully enumerated.

The lack of parking leads to more demand for on street parking, which is delivered via the ballot box. Majority of housing developments have minimum parking stipulations, although in practice those aren’t really practically met (a garage is claimed as a space for example, or a drive which only fits one behind another), which leads to on road parking.

With public transport there are two elements. The capital expenditure and the operational expenditure. Why do you think someone who walks and bike everywhere should pay increased taxes to subsidise empty buses running around the place?

fortzi · a year ago
Then you must apply the same logic to public infrastructure for cars. Why would someone who only walks or bikes have to pay for the gigantic and expensive infrastructure needed for cars? Why would they have to have their immediate surrounding sacrificed to make room for all these cars?
