Interesting. We removed it as it was mostly too verbose, catching too many false positives and never really added anything useful.

You can comment on this in the PR and supposedly it'll remember and get better.

Because it has the ability to write tests for the PR in question.

It's more than that. If can suggest fixes which you can directly commit.

I absolutely loved this book: https://www.amazon.com/Barefoot-Bandit-Colton-Harris-Moore-A...

Written by a guy who actually lived on the islands where this was happening (where I also happen to live).

She isn't "returning" the plane, she's landing it somewhere and he's finding out it's there later. And she isn't "fixing" it, she's replacing bits (the battery and headphones) he removed to make it harder to steal.

That was my first thought. There's only so many places you can take it. Though I guess they could also ... hide it in a hangar somewhere?

I've started and abandoned loads of projects! I started to notice that, often, ONLY after putting in considerable effort would I discover competitors or other projects doing the same thing.

Sometimes this would get me down. Other times it would motivate me. Either way I got sick of at least not knowing from the beginning.

Naturally I started a project to scratch this itch, which aims to help me quickly know in advance if my dumb saas idea is already* out there, so I can then go focus on building, customers etc.

>far safer than a certified aircraft than the statistics will tell you

I share your frustration with the technological stagnation of general aviation, but this is completely damning. Cirrus added all of the features you mention, at great expense and in a fully certified aircraft, and took decades to show any kind of clear safety advantage over clapped-out Cessnas (as I understand it, the vast majority of improvement came from intensive training in when to deploy the parachute, which was wildly less intuitive than anyone originally realized and likely remains so for pilots without specialized training). Digital instruments, weather displays, and automation have significant benefits for many use cases, but it's unclear that they're inherently safer than legacy systems for amateur aviators.

It's true! I have only ever flown my Cirrus, in which I did ALL my training. I have no idea how to do an engine out landing. They don't teach it. The solution to nearly every major problem is pull the chute.

Even if supersonic flight were 2.4x less fuel efficient than regular flights, based on Concorde vs other aircraft, if that translated into 2.4x ticket prices, a lot of people would still pay it.

$1000 vs $2400 to get to Europe in 6 hours instead of 12? A lot of people who just hate those long flights would pay for it, especially given that flights are only a portion of total vacation cost, together with hotels, etc.

Or for a flight inside the US, $1000 rather than $400, but to get from coast to coast in 3 hours rather than 6, may be very worth it for some people.

I'd do it 1/10_000th the speed if I could, from an airship with a hotel glued to the bottom.

I love this. I made a totally free, just for fun, tool based around learning Japanese via Youtube using the CI approach. https://seikai.tv The trick is finding content that is at the right level but that you also find interesting. Great article, thank you!
