68,000 macs to run a program to download something seems a bit too much to me.

I remember when I saw MARS.EXE for the first time on my 386. That was something absolutely unimaginable for real-time graphics. Pure magic!

It's fascinating to see that 30 years later someone is still working around its source code.

I suppose this one is great for someone who has 50000 photos they want to keep!

Can anyone recommend a tool like the old old acdsee? Just browse random folders, display a preview and be able to delete photos?

Because my problem is a photo library where I should probably delete 90% of it. But all those advanced photo managers with functions for pros (or even Apple Photos, which I gave up on) make this particular operation extremely slow.

Same situation here. Just thinking of printing an album of the last 3 years gives me chills. I recently learnt about "photo culling" software, which is what professional photographers use to skim through all the photo bursts they shoot and pick the best. I didn't try any yet, but you might like to google the term.

Syncthing is the most confounding user-unfriendly software I have ever had the displeasure of using. It makes a process that should be pretty easy, pick some folders and share some keys remarkably painful and convoluted.

This is fantastic. However, I only see the use case of messaging through the Meshtastic clients. Is there any other thing one can do over this setup, like Gopher or IRC?

feiss commented on 3D Printer Auto Bed Leveling Mesh Visualizer   i.chillrain.com/index.php... · Posted by u/macinjosh

For a 3d printer the distance between the print bed and the nozzle when printing the first layer is very important. If the distance is too big the print doesn't stick to the bed and you end up with spaghetti. If the distance is too small either not enough plastic comes out so your print doesn't stick; no plastic at all comes out so your print doesn't stick; or the nozzle digs into the printbed, damaging it.

Since the thickness of layers in a 3d print is around 0.1-0.3mm the margin for error is rather tight. Since no one is going to invest in precision ground printbeds you need to get that precision by some other method. One of those methods is to probe the bed height at various points before printing, and driving the Z-axis to correct for that during the print.

The linked tool can be used to visualize how nonflat your printbed is given a set of such probes. The default example seems to have a ±0.25mm error, which isn't amazing but should be usable with mesh leveling and not at all without.

This is neat, today I learnt. Can an Ender 3 do mesh leveling?

I am a semi-pro artist and graduated from art school. But I had an almost 10-years break from painting. Some time ago I started painting again and decided to combine my painting and programming skills. Before launching ArtistAssistApp, I painted about 10 works with its help to make sure it's convenient and easy to use. Also, I asked a pro artist to make a few paintings with the help of the app to get the feedback. These paintings by a pro artist I used for promo videos in Instagram, YouTube and GitHub.

That makes sense, and definitely adds value to the app. Thanks for sharing!

I think that's their point. I think the proper (Spanish) pronunciation is gwah-dah-loo-peh.

That's the correct pronunciation, yup

Great idea and fantastic implementation!! This is very well aimed to actual painters. Are you a painter yourself, or did you have any help from a painter?

Awesome job
