Socket (https://socket.dev) | Staff Software Engineer & Security Researcher | SF or REMOTE | Full-time

If you specialize in making computers do things they’re not supposed to do, please drop us a line.

Socket's mission is to help developers and security teams to ship faster and spend less time on security busywork. Thousands of organizations use Socket to safely discover, audit, and manage their open source code. Our customers – from Figma to Vercel – absolutely love Socket (just read their tweets to see for yourself! [1])

The company was founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh [2], who has worked in open source software for 10+ years writing software that receives more than a billion downloads per month. We have raised $25M in funding [3] from the best angel investors, operators, and security leaders in the industry.

We're a small team (~15) but we're already depended on by top companies like Figma, Vercel, Brave, Replit, Expo, Metamask, a massive telecom in Canada, as well as three massive AI companies that you've definitely heard of ;)

I admire what Socket is doing. If anything happened to my current job it would be the first place where I'd want to work. Keep rocking Feross, greetings from Colombia.

Around $56/mo in Colombia with access to top doctors, hospitals and clinics. Copay is $6 for any appointment. But surgery/ER/hospitalization incidents are free

M1 is overrated. I own MacBook Pro with M1 Max. It’s fast, but it’s not something that helps in day to day use. And ARM compatibility issues not really helping. Battery is not that amazing either. I spent 30 minutes in discord and battery was at 91%, 5 hours is not something unique. It’s good, fast and expensive laptop. But not something that I could call mind breaking.

Try the Discord PTB which is native to M1. https://discord.com/api/download/ptb?platform=osx

Under European law it is reasonably impossible for an individual to run a forum or blog which is open to comments:

> The EU just passed TERREG yesterday without a vote that requires anyone running a website with user generated content (a blog with comments, a forum etc.) and if they have significant EU user base to establish legal presence in the EU and have an officer responsible for deleting content with 1 hr SLA. That's out of reach for most of people. You cannot even block your site for EU traffic, because EU users can use VPN.

[…]

> On 12 September 2018, the European Commission presented a proposal for a regulation on preventing the dissemination of terrorist content online, which included:

>The one-hour rule: a legally binding one-hour deadline for content to be removed following a removal order from national competent authorities;

Not to mention restrictions on "hate speech", NetzDG, impressums...

If they are operating this datacenter under their German company, wouldn't all clients have to comply with this?

How enforceable is this? If I’m a Latin American hosting in the US what happens?
