Those companies worth billions like GM and Tesla perform extensive testing to prove to regulators their software isn't going to kill people and does not pose an unacceptable risk to other drivers on the road. Do you get to sidestep all that if you post your code to GitHub?
derekja · 2 months ago
Yup, because you get to be personally responsible for any outcomes just like you would be if you were driving without ai assistance. If you aren’t comfortable building and testing an open source project then it isn’t for you.

On macOS with current OBS, "Screen Capture" will include the system audio automatically, while "Window Capture" will not.

Complicated interaction with macOS Sequoia though. I’m on apple silicon and trying to capture on a multimon setup (although only capturing one screen) and the capture freezes painfully often. Going to window capture helps but doesn’t eliminate the problem. Seems to be related to ScreenCaptureKit. I’ve tried a lot to debug it but so far failed.

Anyone know of the opposite? A really easy-to-use text-to-speech program that is cross-platform?

I've been really enjoying the AntsCanada youtube channel lately. He stages ant wars in a controlled environment and films them really well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCONd1SNf3_QqjzjCVsURNuA

Been quite a few years ago, but Dell support came to a tiny campground 100 miles from anywhere and swapped out my laptop motherboard within 24 hours of it failing. Sadly, their support is no longer as extraordinary.

I get it on iOS exclusively, but turning on a VPN resolves for some reason. I’ve tried different browsers, different DNS providers, and WiFi or cellular, and none have helped. Not sure why a VPN would make a difference. Same country of origin.

Thanks. I get it on ios as well. Hadn’t thought to try a vpn.

I find it funny how US nationalists keep bringing up that China can't innovate and can only steal/copy.

Have they looked inside a tech company office before? Have they seen how many Chinese immigrants/second generation Chinese Americans power high-tech US tech companies? Do they think that only the Chinese people in the US can innovate? And that once they're in China, they lose that ability?

Or have they read a science paper recently? China's universities dominate the Nature Index for high quality science output: https://www.nature.com/nature-index/annual-tables/2023/insti...

Heck, just read any science paper from top US universities. There's a good chance that one or more Chinese names are on it.

I had always read that (perhaps over-hopefully) as referring to the structural incentives of the Chinese economic system not leading to innovation rather than a racist statement that Asians can't innovate. Neither statement seems completely accurate but the former is considerably less offensive.
