I think it's imoprtant to recognize that if a whole crowd of people say "We hate X" but everybody in that crowd hates eachothers proposals even more, it just creates a facade of agreement where there is none.
I think the negative responses are directed at the use of "meh" and the seeming indifference to an actual problem that could really use a solution, even if we don't have a perfect one everybody agrees on yet.
Looking at the game when others play it makes me think that I would be so happy if I could experience it with a group of friends.
Maybe if I retire and by some miracle know enough people, we can get together and form an awesome guild, and explore the world for the first time?
Wrong. Really easy to find lots of examples, here’s a couple to get you started.

> The risk of fire exists even when the vehicle is parked and turned off. This month, the company will notify affected owners of the fire risk, advising them to park outside until they can have their vehicles fixed.

> Water may enter the starter solenoid and cause an electrical short which can result in an engine fire while the car is parked or driving, according to the NHTSA.
Where it breaks down, is when you get a whole ecosystem populated entirely by kids and those trying to make money off of them.
However, social media ever since feeds and the "like" button are an entirely different beast which is addicting, dehumanizing, and antisocial - preventing kids from developing socially.
EV/lithium fires are worse, but afair ICE vehicles are much more likely to catch fire. Not sure if eg [1] was caused by ICE or EV but that was another bad garage fire incident afaict from English sources. I really don't understand how this reaction jibes with the statistics, seems panicy to me.
According to the NTSB 3.5k/100k hybrids seem to catch fire (3.5%!!), 1.6k/100k ICE and only 25/100k EVs (0.025%) [2].

What this incident shows is that with an EV, charging in the garage as its supposed to do overnight, that chance is >0.
That is an enormously BIG DEAL, and will matter to a huge number of consumers and lawmakers alike.
Completely agree! The number of people I know who I think would struggle to know whether to hold the plastic or metal end of a screwdriver is depressing to me. I want my kids to grow up with a basic knowledge of mechanics, mechanisms, repairs/maintenance, and experience the world as things that can mostly be understood (and created) rather than things that are conceived and made by others and merely consumed by "normal people".
It also has saved a fair amount of money over the years, but the mindset is more important to show my family than the dollars.
Yes, exactly. I use it the way I used to outsource tasks to junior developers. I describe what I need done and then I do code review.
I know roughly where I want to go and how to get there, like having a sink full of dirty dishes and visualizing an empty sink with all the dishes cleaned and put away, and I just instruct it to do the tedious bits.
But I try and watch how other people use it, and have a few other different styles that I employ sometimes as well.
> I use it the way I used to outsource tasks to junior developers.
Is this not concerning to you, in a broader sense? These interactions were incredibly formative for junior devs (they were for me years ago) - its how to grew new senior devs. If we automate away the opportunity to train new senior devs, what happens to the future?
