That’s likely a pretty bad day to burgle. People are probably going to be at home. You should wait for garbage day and see who hasn’t put their bins out.

Asking families if their teenager could be seated separately is one thing, but knowing the airlines, they might as well start seating the toddlers in the overhead luggage compartments.

The most profitable way to fill a plane would be to knock everybody out and just pile them up in the fuselage.

In Canada, we've already learned to always fly a European airline when possible. We have some legal protections but Canadian airlines are happy to put people on a complaint waiting list instead of doing anything - it's pretty laughable. As of August, there's 85k complaints waiting. It's a 1.5-2 years wait.

There is a 90 day decision timeframe starting from the time of submitting a complaint.

But note: > Due to a high volume of complaints, there will be a delay between when a complaint is submitted and waits in the queue and when the complaint process will start.

> The only way abuse of both visas can stop is if they are not tied to an employer, allowing free movement of labor.

Changing or Leaving Your H-1B Employer
    Q. What is “porting”?

    A. There are two kinds of job portability, or “porting,” available based on two different kinds of employer petitions:

H-1B petition portability: Eligible H-1B nonimmigrants may begin working for a new employer as soon as the employer properly files a new H-1B petition (Form I-129) requesting to amend or extend H-1B status with USCIS, without waiting for the petition to be approved. More information about H-1B portability can be found on our H-1B Specialty Occupations page.

    ...

    Q. How do I leave my current employer to start working for a new employer while remaining in H-1B status?

    A. Under H-1B portability provisions, you may begin working for a new employer as soon as they properly file a non-frivolous H-1B petition on your behalf, or as of the requested start date on the petition, whichever is later. You are not required to wait for the new employer’s H-1B petition to be approved before beginning to work for the new employer, assuming certain conditions are met. For more details about H-1B portability, see our H-1B Specialty Occupations page, under “Changing Employers or Employment Terms with the Same Employer (Portability).”
---

Someone on a H-1B visa can change jobs as soon as the other employer files a form I-129 to hire them.

That process remains tied to an employer, which is the very point that was originally made.

Many employers simply won’t do that paperwork by policy and treat that process as no different than sponsorship.

All I know is my mortgage is $1,800 a month and to rent my place now is at least $6K/month. I love knowing that my monthly payment can't go up.

Property taxes and insurance go up pretty much every year.

It's funny how employers try to rationalize this -- take Coinbase, for example: https://www.coinbase.com/blog/how-coinbase-is-embracing-ai-i...

> While some worry AI will dehumanize the hiring process, we believe the opposite. Deploying AI will enable more quality interactions, more quickly for the candidates who are the best fit for our jobs– without unnecessary administrative tasks or distractions. We fully believe in AI’s ability to build depth and breadth in our selection process, while acknowledging that the road ahead will have its challenges. Let’s face it: the candidates who want to work at Coinbase are as enthusiastic about AI as we are. They, like us, are optimistic about the future of this (and all) technology.

bthrn commented on New Vulnerability in GitHub Copilot, Cursor: Hackers Can Weaponize Code Agents   pillar.security/blog/new-... · Posted by u/pseudolus

Both GitHub and Cursor’s response seems a bit lazy. Technically they may be correct in their assertion that it’s the user’s responsibility. But practically isn’t part of their product offering a safe coding environment? Invisible Unicode instruction doesn’t seem like a reasonable feature to support, it seems like a security vulnerability that should be addressed.

It's not really a vulnerability, though. It's an attack vector.

The pricing seems odd. $20/mo for Alexa+, but it's free with a $15/mo Prime subscription?

It makes me think that it will only be included with Prime for a short time - long enough to get a lot of Alexa users hooked on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Banksy is a group of people. Like it was with those Spanish writers.

> Female Spanish thriller writer Carmen Mola revealed to be three men

> To everyone's surprise, Mola was not a university professor nor a woman. The authors, it turned out, were three established Spanish men, the screenwriters Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martínez and Antonio Mercero.

Why does it matter either way?
