Assuming it answers the problem, what’s the issue?
bil7 · a year ago
usually I expect an instructional article/blog post/etc to have actually been tried and tested. If it has the format of "I had x problem, chatGPT suggested solution y, it actually worked, here it is and a bit about why it works" then of course that's fine and good. But you'll only have to google a few times before you see a 100% synthetic SEO optimised useless article that does nothing but waste your time.

The tabletop was fanmade, right? I believe that is a compilation of official content.

I believe they mean "Bionicle Adventure Game: Quest For Makuta (2001)" which has a Lego logo on it. I also cannot find anything on the site in question

I basically suck at Rocket League (can't get beyond Plat.III in any mode), but I still enjoy playing it daily.

Turn off ALL chat except tactical team quick chats, otherwise it's a toxic quagmire.

plat 3 is really not that bad - how many hours have you played the game for?

There's a great movie called Under the Skin about this very topic. Featuring Scarlett Johansson no less.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Under_the_Skin_(2013_film)

When I saw it I also thought of the Australian beetles that hump beer bottles until they die, because the size, color, and texture of the beer bottle resemble a particularly sexy female beetle and they just can't help themselves.

there are many human males that turn to the bottle instead of women. Don't be so mean to the beetles!

Collecting keyboards is one of the dumbest “hobbies” in reddit-land. Up there with collecting knives and guns and “EDC”. There is no skill involved, no physical or mental challenges, no cultural or aesthetic enrichment. Just fucking spending money on things that you will never actually use.

you're telling me spending $400 to improve the sound of your keypresses isn't worth it?

The regional popup on that website blocked me from seeing the page. What an extremely hostile bit of UX!
bil7 · 2 years ago
yup, very annoying. Open devtools and delete the element and the page functions fine.

Ah, I thought HN was anti-copyright.

yep, all HN users agree on all topics. That's why there are never any disagreements.
bil7 commented on Driver hack lets you run Linux after Windows BSODs, no reboot required   tomshardware.com/software... · Posted by u/dragonbonheur

> While this driver is more or less just a funny joke about Windows and Linux, it does bring up the possibility of doing more with the same bug check callback feature. It's not clear what you can and can't do, but if it's possible to run an emulator after crashing, then surely it's possible to do other things, too. That's all assuming Microsoft doesn't revisit this feature of Windows and concludes it's just a bit too easy to exploit.

Anyone else getting ChatGPT vibes from this conclusion?

bil7 commented on Valve is a wonderful upstream contributor to Linux and the open-source community   phoronix.com/news/Valve-U... · Posted by u/WithinReason

I don't have a Steam Deck, and I've never used SteamOS. But it's been incredible over the last few years how much better the support for games (both old and new ) on Linux has become, to the point where it seems more likely than not that a game will be playable.

It's been great to see that Valve have been pushing so many of their improvements upstream rather than trying to keep them to themselves - long may it continue.

I can't believe the current state of things is so good, that I'd default to using the Proton version of a game over the linux native port.
