There are other countries.

Let me fill you in on a secret: one of the reasons behind US’s dominance is that even though “there are other countries” that could do the hard science, the US is one of the only ones that did. Now the US is at risk of becoming just another one of those “other countries“.

From the article: “ The White House, which was responsible for the assessments, said the information will be housed within NASA to comply with the law, but gave no further details.”

It doesn’t seem like the admin believes the reports are biased and need to be removed. Cool conspiracy though.

Obviously insurance companies, and i of course, would prefer if nobody anywhere ever had accidents or got sick etc

And i'd love it every lottery ticket, and horse i ever bet on was a winner

Feels like insurance companies just don't want to do their job.

They're getting paid to take someone's risk and then refusing to accept it.

Not sure if this is accurate. It seems they’re refusing to take the risk.

A friend of mine recently finished his engineering PhD at the University of Toronto. He received employment offers from an American firm and a Canadian firm. The Canadian firm offered a total compensation package worth 80,000 CAD (~55,000 USD); the American firm offered him nearly 275,000 USD.

I can’t believe Justin Trudeau would lowball your friend like that.

> Converting office buildings into housing is harder than tearing them down

So tear them down and build apartments.

> This will have a significant economic on the investors

Investors can invest in tearing down useless offices and build housing, instead of throwing good money after bad money.

Ahh yes the "we'll rewrite this code from scratch" argument; known well to work every time!

Common! This gets brought up all the time when the topic is Boeing. Max's issue had nothing to do with the outsourced software. Netflix has a documentary called 'Downfall' which talks about what all went wrong. AirBus also outsources, they haven't crashed right?
amarka · 3 years ago
Not sure if the last sentence is in jest or not, but here's a list of crashes for just one of their plane models:

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. We've been watching this happen for a few years now, and some of us are actively paving the road.

The road to hell is littered with "free ice cream this way =>" signs.
