Seems like the kind of thing risk management should have asked about. The story needed telling, but when who tells the story becomes a story in itself, you're in the dictum "no news about journalists themselves is good news"

I think there's a possibility in a modern broadcaster, where you "pitch" expensive ideas, this one would have been both expensive and demanding contacts into a murky community. He had the connections, for sure. Maybe for a commissioning editor that took care of one kind of risk?

counterpoint: falsehoods do not need telling.

Turns out both Jewish and Muslim students are getting harassed, which isn't surprising at all to anyone paying attention... this was also true before the current israel/palestine conflict

I believe what’s under discussion is a students right to protest the US governments involvement in the genocide of the Palestinian people.

I believe you can protest whatever, even things that are not real (like the so called genocide, where the population actually grows). There should of course be limits to your protest: violence against people you disagree with should never be an option.

PS: if you can stop the war by returning all the hostages, it's not a genocide.

Not withholding cancer research because two countries on the other side of the planet can't get along and make it everyone else's problem shouldn't be difficult either.

I agree 100% - I would point out that it's not the Jewish students who set "encampments".

There's no reason to waste time addressing those claims because now that they're also going after western journalists, even Israel isn't bothering with those pretexts anymore.

It's very clearly an attempt to control the information that comes out and limit it to their own narrative only, same as any other dictatorship taking control of the media.

"There's no reason to waste time addressing those claims..."

that's convenient.
