Man selling shovels reports that every job requires a new shovel.

Or in other words, of course he says that; it's not really a useful analysis is it?

100%. How is this even remotely considered newsworthy.

The problem isn’t home usage, or data centers. It’s the total lack of investment since the water companies were privatised and moved to a model of money extraction for shareholders. Now we have no new capacity in years and more leaks (waste and clean) than ever, and yet it’s always the public who need to save a little more or pay increased bills.

Successive governments (both sides) have been shown to be totally spineless with water regulation, despite significant public outrage. Privatisation has been a huge failure and yet we appear to be stuck in this position.

Unsurprisingly this has been buried on HN, plenty of posts with way fewer votes per time on page 1. The censorship is everywhere. Utterly depressing.

Thrilled Labour actually followed through on this. Especially as the population ages we need some balance to the hordes of retirees voting right so they can keep their oversized homes and ludicrous triple lock at the expense of young people.

Now where’s the age cap?

I really hope the EU keeps up the pressure. The level of control the gatekeepers have is beyond ridiculous. Sure there’s the “take your money elsewhere” option but we’re at a point where that’s just not realistic to be a normal person. (My sons nursery for example requires an app that only exists on iOS/Android).

EU looks set to be the only big enough institution with any spine or willingness to take this on. Will probably take years if it ever happens due to all this legal dance bullshit, but I really hope they win eventually, even if it’s just for the benefit of EU citizens (of which I am, sadly, not).

Slightly altered title title get in the limit.

Funnily enough smartwatches weren’t tested for this use case. Makes me think of self driving cars running people down in unknown situations. Ah the future.
