At this point there’s only really one thing I want from an iPhone and that’s an option for a 12/13 mini sized device again. Surely those phones didn’t sell so few that it’s not worth doing at all?

Staying on my 13 mini until someone makes a dumb phone that doesn’t suck.

I don't think the fear is that they'll steal code you'll end putting publicly on GitHub, but everything else. I guess there is some fear that it won't just analyze and process what you currently have open, but might scrape your computer for more data and so on.

I personally don't believe ByteDance would be stupid enough to even attempt exfiltrating files from developers machines, which typically are better protected than the average user computer, just trying to see the perspective of others with a more charitable reading :)

Trust em or not … had that happen to someone else using Cursor a few weeks back. I ran a prompt for refactoring a function and all of a sudden it started dumping someone else’s directory structure and file contents into my text file. Like hundreds of files. Not exactly sure what happened but I immediately uninstalled Cursor.

OpenTofu. Pulumi is cool especially if you want to run "code" code and not declarative code but Pulumi is in some ways the next Hashicorp. We'll see if they can manage to build a business and not become lame and evil like Hashicorp. OpenTofu is 100% open source.

Honestly, if they built a real scripting engine into OpenTofu, I'd be overjoyed. As it stands though, the declarative code (HCL) isn't the ugliest.

Im on team tofu.

Come to the webinar tmrw, not quite a scripting engine but multilang no-custom-provider custom function support

Frustration with HCL is why I wrote RCL (it now has a website, https://rcl-lang.org). It can generate HCL's json form for use with Terraform, and it has functions and sensible list comprehensions.

> Do you mean you'd like a self-contained binary to run a private provider/modules registry?

Yes, indeed. But it seems the problem more was something with Google's algorithm, I swear a month ago this here [1] wasn't on the first page when searching for "terraform private provider registry".

That also answered the second question.

Citizen is great. Definitely recommend it. Really easy to get up and running locally for PoC w/ ngrok.

Just another facet of the lovely enshittification diamond. Fortunately in OSS land, there's a deshittification tool called the fork.
