The DnD episode from Community (S2E14) can't be seen on any streaming services because one Asian character wears black makeup while cosplaying as a drow.

The list of Sunny's removed episodes from Hulu is insane to me:

- Season 4 Episode 3: America's Next Top Paddy's Billboard Model Contest

- Season 6 Episode 9: Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth

- Season 8 Episode 2: The Gang Recycles Their Trash

- Season 9 Episode 9: The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6

- Season 14 Episode 3: Dee Day

They're all in my home server, though :)

I don't like Apple and its 'stuffs' but if it works anything like Spotify, then I can control 'it/Spotify' from my PC/Firefox while the music is played by my phone to an bluetooth JBL. So even without a dedicated TV/screen, I can listen to Spotify in other devices. I assume the comment would benefit from a setup like that - smartphone to control, AppleTV and the rest for the audio.
BlobberSnobber · 4 months ago
Apple for some reason hasn’t implemented that feature, and it boggles the mind. Say I’m playing music on my iPhone and I try playing a track on my mac, it doesn’t ask me on which device to play, hell, it doesn’t even stop playing on my iPhone to start on my mac, it just puts an ugly warning in the middle of the screen saying something like “stop playing on your iPhone to listen to the song on this device”.

It’s actually insane to me.

A few years ago, Zotero actually made me content with the fact that I would need an external PDF reader. Then they unexpectedly rolled out their own, but by this point I am so happy with Okular that I have barely even tried Zotero's built-in PDF reader. Mostly because of Okular's great annotation, which Zotero then automatically synchronizes. A far cry from Mendeley's terrible walled garden.
BlobberSnobber · 5 months ago
I find the built-in one pretty great: has light and dark modes, good annotations, performs well. The only thing missing is this fullscreen behavior, which should exist by default IMO.

Yeah. I understand that this site doesn’t want to become Reddit, but it really has an allergy to comedy, it’s sad. God forbid you use sarcasm, half the people here won’t understand it and the other half will say it’s not appropriate for healthy discussion…

Yes but 34% of adults lacking literacy proficiency were born outside the US. It seems to me that this is more a reflection that the US has the highest percentage of immigrants of all countries on earth.

Adult population is obviously implied. Love when the universe gifts us this level of irony.

The plain M4 chip will run Cyberpunk 2077 at 30FPS 1080p. (Andrew Tsai on YouTube)

I did neglect the fact that Apple hasn’t thrown that chip in the Air yet, but I’m sure that’s only a few months away.

BlobberSnobber · 8 months ago
At ultra settings? Even if, 30 fps at 1080p is not nearly “without breaking a sweat”. Also, the air will have trouble keeping that performance after a few minutes without a fan.

I love my MBP M4 Pro, but its gaming performance doesn’t reflect well what it’s capable of.

The idea that iTerm is noticeably slow is hilarious.

If you buy a base model grandma level MacBook Air it can play Cyberpunk 2077 without breaking a sweat and somehow terminal performance is an issue.

And if all I cared about was raw performance I’d be using vim instead of VSCode. But raw performance isn’t what makes me productive.

Cyberpunk 2077 on a MacBook Air without breaking a sweat? At what resolution and framerate?

Modelica is an excellent way to perform these simulations. Exporting a functional mock-up unit (FMU) according to the FMI standard is a first-class capability [1] that is another huge source of value, especially for systems integrators. You are able to have reasonably obfuscated models of your system in untrusted hands, and they get the full benefit of your system model. This is one area where OpenModelica is ahead of competitors including the open-source ModelingToolkit.jl [2] and related library FMIExport.jl [3].

In Finland, many people avoid opening windows altogether, and only rely on various devices for mechanical movement of air. I find it quite alarming actually, as many homes have stale air and subpar ventilation systems, always justified by "never let heat escape the house". The idea of opening windows to refresh the air in the house is basically alien to many Finns, while it's a normal thing to do in other countries; in German, there's a term Stoßlüften.
BlobberSnobber · 9 months ago
Stoßlüften isn’t merely a term, it’s a German religion
