It might be similar to how employers dislike hiring entrepreneurs. People who already have a career bigger than their job
BSVogler · 24 days ago
It does not even have to be successful. After getting repeated feedback about my strengths as an entrepreneur and how it is not a good fit for that position, I am now toning that down a lot. YC advertises that funding a company is always good career choice because even if you fail it will be good in your CV. But my experience so far is that many companies see it as a red flag.

Honest question: are the app icons going to be monochrome? If so, then paint me baffled.

No, it is just one option you can select.

Actually there are multiple source cameras. The neural net learns to interpolate the source camera colors based on where the virtual camera is. Under the hood it's hard to say exactly what's going on in the mind of the neural net, but I think it's something like "If I'm closer to camera A, take most of the color from camera A."
BSVogler · 3 months ago
Gaussian splatting does not use neural nets. It runs an optimizer on the Gaussian splattering parameters. I think in your comment you are talking about Neural Radiance Fields (Nerfs).

Ran into a bug where a double tap zoomed the page and it broke the game as I could not zoom out again. Unfortunately it does not save the progress in a cookie.

Fritzbox is a shit show. Their router is not yours (no access to the OS). Their router only works with their DECT telephone (ask me how i found out). Fritz is the Microsoft of internet access in Germany.

The DECT limitation is not true. I have it paired with a Gigaset.

The AfD literally has meetings about mass deportations and many members at the top are literally neo-nazis. One member of parliament was even involved in a group that was planning a coup. When they started defending the Waffen-SS instead of discussing real problems it was even too much for Rassemblement National. You talking points about fake news are following the party line to denounce existing institutions and to appeal to conservatives.

> Try blindfolding yourself, inserting your installer usb stick, and installing your thing and using it successfully.

I don't understand this.

Are you saying its hard to install Linux? Has this ever been true? Usually you smash the Next button. There is a partioning screen, but that is some serious changes you are going to make.

I don't care what OS religion you follow, I'm taking the blindfold off during partioning.

Yes. You need to be very technical. E.g. there is a keyboard selection thing with multiple ambiguous options while on Mac you have to press like one key to identify it. Even windows somehow works without requiring a PhD in keyboard layouts.

Interesting, I thought people would get more worked up over the "park illegally and let yourself think of the fine as a parking fee", especially with the "don’t break rules that matter" addition - there is usually a good reason why parking is illegal, and following only "rules that matter" is a slippery slope. So what if you are blocking a lane of traffic, it's just for a few minutes? Or that bike lane, no one ever uses it anyway? Or those disabled parking spaces, they're always empty?
BSVogler · 2 years ago
Yeah, when parking is not allowed somewhere it is always for a reason. As a European I am using my bicycle to move around the city and the amount of times I got into dangerous situations because people park wherever they like was too high. I started reporting the violations to the police because I am sick of this antisocial behaviour.
