GrapheneOS support for Fairphone is unlikely to ever happen. Their hardware is too insecure to satisfy GOS's reasonable requirements [1] and have stated that they aren't interested in improving it [2]. Software is also lacking and they've partnered with Murena [3], who has been slinging shit at GOS [4].

On a more positive note, due to the AOSP/Pixel drama there now is a real possibility a different major OEM will be supported: https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/114711328082841462

I really do not know which other major OEM other than exynos-based samsung that comes near GOS' checklist, but here I am hoping if he is talking about Nothing phone.

While still useful to have a native tool, you can use WSL to mount a sshfs path in windows. I even use it for LUKS containers.

Not everyone wants to install a huge resource just to use one feature.

Bought a Surface Pro in 2013. After a few years the battery stopped charging. It is for all intents impossible to replace.

Now I buy Thinkpads.

To be fair, the Surface we know for its 0/10 repairability 10 years ago is vastly different compared to today.

Heck, they even post an official repair guide as far as Surface Pro 7+ on Youtube[0].

Based on a blog I read, Microsoft intends to launch these laptops for consumers at a later date, post their initial business-focused release.

The latest Surface Go 4 still sold only for business for 6 months begs to differ.

Gonna bet it's actually because of the DRM implementation on Yuzu that got it into trouble.

It's on Settings > Customize > Pull to Refresh.

Otherwise, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I dislike Android because of Google. I dislike IPhone because it's too expensive and too closed and locked. What choice do I still have if I want to also run some of the most popular apps?

Pixel + grapheneOS is the best middleground if you want.

I’m all for new soft cores. However, do we really need to pollute the name space? Microblaze is already a name of an architecture that somebody might want to Google.

Just call it AMDcoreV or some such thing

8K832d7tNmiQ · 2 years ago
or simplify it as AMD V core to make it easier to say.

Is there a consensus on whether av1 will become a mainstream codec with broad adoption? As far as I know Apple still doesn't provide hardware acceleration, nvidia only just started (and I don't find their encoding to add much to hevc in term of quality vs file size).

I'd expect for AV1 decode support announcement for their next iphone.
