Really? Should I rely on microtransactions then?

Have you considered some kind of demo level and pay to unlock the full game?

Whoa that's actually a brilliant strategy: accelerate the hype first by offering 100M comp packages, then stop hiring and strategically drop a few "yeah bubble's gonna pop soon" rumours. Great way to fuck with your competition, especially if you're meta and you're not in the lead yourself

But if Meta believe it's a bubble then why not let the competition continue to waste their money pumping it up? How does popping it early benefit Meta?

Thank you, that seems to make sense, and you are not the first one to tell me this too.

Outside property, what would you suggest to invest my money to? (I'm not a big fan of cryptocurrency)

369548684892826 · 23 days ago
I'm not a Financial Advisor so I'm not qualified to make suggestions. But a lot of people find this [0] flow chart useful. It's UK focussed and you can probably skip to Step 8 (so maybe not that helpful?) but what it says for most people is that they should look at making long term investments in low cost index funds in a tax efficient savings wrapper (e.g. an ISA account in the UK)

Buying individual properties as an investment can be a huge headache, even trying to sell the investment can take a long time. And as the other reply said, it is quite risky to have so much tied up in a single property where anything could happen to it.

You're trying to solve two problems:

- Want to invest in an asset to keep some wealth outside your bank account.

- Want to have a place you can escape to, but without too much maintenance.

I would think about solving two problems with two solutions.

- Invest some money in funds (e.g. property investment funds if you really want property).

- Use some of the interest to rent fun places to go on holiday to.

First of all, do they shoot you in San Francisco, if you use capital letters and punctuation?

Second, why are SV people obsessed with fake exponentials? It's very clear that AI progress has only been exponential in the sense that people are throwing a lot more resources at AI then they did a couple years ago.

Is it done like this just to show it wasn't written by a LLM?

Do you know about any sizeable open source projects written in C#, other than what Microsoft has produced? I rarely come across anything written in it.

It’s weird to me that the providers aren’t communicating to customers about this. What if you were waiting for a call from a doctor, or similar?

They've probably let everyone know by SMS, we'll get the message when everything starts working again

Zed seems really nice, and the usability has come a really long way in the last couple of months. That being said, I have one issue, and I hesitate to even bring it up because it seems so shallow: I hate all the themes! They all look so ugly and amateur. I know this is a really trivial thing, it's like complaining I don't like Python because it uses whitespace for indent or something, but I just can't get over it. VSCode/Cursor is beautiful in comparison.

I recently found Github Dark Default, which is probably the okay-est of the 10-15 I tried, but there is so much that still looks bad. The autocomplete popover looks far worse than VSCode, the file tree looks much worse, tabs look ugly, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions here?

There's a forum thread [0] where users share their custom themes.

There's also an importer tool [1] that lets you convert any VS Code theme to a Zed theme. You might still need to compile the importer yourself, but it's all pretty straightforward.
