Milk "recipes" are: https://patents.google.com/patent/US2550584A/en

So are fruit leather "recipes": https://patents.google.com/patent/AU2021200204B2/en

I'd imagine they had something like that. Probably have to do something special to not burn the ketchup while you heat it.

My favorite snack ever, since discontinued, are also covered by patent. Partially popped popcorn that used to be at Trader Joe's.

You mean like Ford's Mustang Mach-E, that starts at $40,000?

I'm not sure what purpose the hyperbole serves here.

0cVlTeIATBs · a year ago
For comparison, BYD's are in the $10k range

ACDSee old versions (2.6.1?) would preload the next image in memory while scrolling through a folder, making it extremely useful in the age of hard drives. It became bloated, but the only reasons to switch were for newer image formats, and sometimes .gifs would crash it.

FastStone Image Viewer is the performant, slick image viewer I use now.

IrfanView has some rough defaults like if you scroll to the end of a folder, a window pops up that you have to click away before you can scroll back. I use it all the time for simple editing, not viewing.

This is very much about personal backups but while we're here - what open source backup tools do people recommend for very simple filesystem backups to a remote server?
0cVlTeIATBs · a year ago
FreeFileSync

It's what you'd like if your idea of simplicity is dragging and dropping one folder to another, but want to more closely see what files have changed before the copy.

That's the final blow for me. The last use case was when esoteric discussion there would be one of the few search engine results.

I've already long ago edited out all my old posts and deleted the accounts. So sad to see sites grow to become gated advertiser-friendly communities.

0cVlTeIATBs commented on 'Pure veg fleet': Indian food app Zomato sparked a caste, purity debate   aljazeera.com/news/2024/3... · Posted by u/YeGoblynQueenne

In India, it's fairly common for minority passengers/drivers on Uber/OLA, mostly Muslims and lower caste people, to be refused service/patronage from some bigoted upper caste customers. While the numbers are very small, they make headlines.

Now Zomato basically crafted this policy for God knows what reasons. Nobody gives a shit on how their food reaches them, as long as it reaches fresh and intact. No one except the same aforementioned group of bigots. There are some members of the upper caste community which tend to be very fanatical about their food preferences and seek to impose vegetarianism by proxy, including by demanding their food only be delivered by vegetarians. There already are restaurants which are staffed by upper caste members only, and this policy would be an extension of it.

I don't know what's Zomato's motivation behind it, except for a.) fanning a flame onto a non-issue to get a leg-up against the competition (it's an election year and some folks are going to be stoked about these kinds of policies), b.) currying favor with the upper caste majority, c.) currying favor with the current ruling party which likes these types of policies (fwiw the same party banned Halal meat in one state which they govern) d.) the CEO is just displaying his inner bigotry, e.) other not specified.

A Pure-veg mode is actually a good policy that helps the customer - ironically, I know a lot of Muslims who use such filters to stick to veg when travelling in places without Halal food. But having a Pure Veg Fleet is a purely bigoted policy that reeks of some kind of "vegetarian apartheid".

Are vegetarians perceived as being bigoted, especially by lower castes?

If you're into twitch shooters you want wired anyway.

Bluetooth is more convenient if your laptop has the BT built in. Otherwise I guess go with your favourite mouse and plug in whatever dongle is appropriate.

Wireless mice are faster than wired mice*

*At least, LTT put out a video as such some years ago. Regardless, if you like wireless, BT is a bottom of the barrel solution.

What counts as a porn site? Reddit, Twitter, etc. all have porn on them. Definitely backwards for free speech and the open internet.

Also backwards for privacy and security. If anything, sites should be prevented from collecting identifying info unless absolutely necessary.

Pity it can't subtract time.

although, Google never could not too.

0cVlTeIATBs · a year ago
I don't use kagi. On WA, this search results in the answer with a prompt with the engine's assumptions, and includes a link to change the assumption to "math" from "word."

These prompts don't show on kagi? Seems like including them would be an avenue for improvement.
