Hi there! I'm Melissa, a self-taught front end dev with just over 1 year of professional experience. I care deeply about high-quality products and the people who need them. I came to tech from the product side, and have a diverse background including sales, UI/UX design, and product development. I'm looking for a remote software developer position.
In my most recent role I designed and built a multi-tenant order management system to run fundraisers online. I built it in React, and created dashboards for both the service provider and fundraisers, as well as personalized store pages for individual sellers to manage order attribution with point of sale functionality backed by Stripe.
If your team needs a positive, multi-faceted person with excellent communication skills who can get things done, let’s have a zoom call! I know I can bring a ton of value to your team, and I’d love to learn all about what problems you’re looking to solve.
EDIT: I've just joined a really fantastic team. Thanks so much to everyone who reached out; this community is truly amazing!

Hi HN. I'm Mads.
I did my PhD working on Bohrium (https://github.com/bh107/bohrium). Bohrium is a framework that sits on top NumPy and intercepts all calls. When you have a side-effect in your Python code, Bohrium will take over and JIT-compile an OpenCL kernel, so your NumPy can run on your GPU. This is all done automatically, so all you need to change is `import numpy as np` to `import bohrium as np`. For Bohrium I also created a Ruby frontend, so you can use custom `BhArray` to JIT-compile OpenCL kernels from Ruby code, run when you have a side-effect. Besides that I also created a CSP (Communicating Sequential Processes) gem for Ruby called Emit (https://github.com/omegahm/emit) This outperformed the current Python implementation in speed.
After my PhD I've been working as full stack developer multiple places, where I've mostly been using Ruby for backend and React for frontend. My latest position was a Tech Lead position where I was in charge of a small team of four developers.

I'm looking for something interesting in fintech or fintech-adjacent (if that's a thing). No blockchain business please. (exceptions possible, CBDC comes to mind, …)
I consider myself a "full stack engineer", but shudder a little at that word. Tech stack is secondary to me, pretty much comfortable with every reasonable technology you throw at me. Mostly motivated by making things happen. I value good communication and would love a role that's "not just programming". Maybe some DevRel? Maybe get a chance to do open source at work again? Just some ideas ;)
Degree in Computer Science and 15 years of experience in software engineering. Mostly in fintech, though the earlier years were "no fin, mostly tech".
Plenty of hobbies besides tech, to keep me entertained.
> Programming Language: Python, Javascript
> Data Analytics/Engineering & Browser Automation: Pandas, Requests-HTML, Selenium, Tableau, SQL
> Learning: Typescript, PySpark, NestJs, Database Design
> Other Stuff: Docker, Venv, Git
Looking for: Entry level, contract, remote position in a development team which is open to collaboration.
Preferred position: Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Analytics Engineer, Python Development.
