Plus the job is really cool ... I'm tempted to apply even though it's way below my normal rate simply because I can see it being as fun as working as a FIRST mentor.
Dumbdo · 5 years ago
This is such a cool idea and a job offering that feels like it was written by somehow who loves his job. Definitely saving this <3
Kim_Bruning · 5 years ago
This is definitely really cool. Replying here in case I want to look at it further.

Sorry to be a party pooper but please don't do the ASCII art thing in Who Is Hiring threads. It leads to a visual gimmick arms race and isn't fair to the other posters. The text part of your post is just fine, and nicely done.

https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...

Edit: this is what I mean by arms race: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25638025

VLC & FFmpeg | Low-level Software Engineer | Paris or REMOTE, INTERNS | Full-time

You want to work on open-source projects, you know C/C++ and multimedia interests you?

We work on numerous things from codecs, system integration to higher level bindings and even GUI. We work on ASM (x86 and ARM), C, C++, C#, Kotlin and Go.

We have openings for excellent developers who are calm enough to work in open source communities and that understand that optimizations are still doable in 2021 :)

Internships are also a possibility, though remote will be restricted to a compatible timezone.

Bonus if you are interested in wasm or ARM asm :)

Hi David, wonder if you'd be open to remote within the UK? I'd be interested in the ML Engineer role primarily, but would also happily be considered for other roles.
davidhunter · 5 years ago
We're open to remote depending on the role. Naturally some roles can't be remote due to the nature of our work. Please reach out to me at david@optimal.ag.

MIT Julia Lab | julia.mit.edu | Boston (remote possible) | Devops and MLops

The Julia Lab is the lab in MIT CSAIL that created Julia. Its work is on high-performance computation and scientific machine learning (https://sciml.ai/). We are looking for individuals to help the lab's development activities.

We’re looking for a new devops and MLops engineer to work with the Julia Lab. You’d be in charge of keeping all of our systems running and creating new schemes to accelerate Julia development. Julia’s Base CI, the FluxML, SciML and GPU resources are managed by this position. Automated benchmarking tools 10, automating the installation of Julia in R and Python packages, helping improve Julia’s setup for compute clusters, building tools to make it easy to manage ML training in Git repositories, etc. are the kinds of problems that are encountered. If you’re also interested in technical computing and interested in splitting time between ops and work in this domain, that can also be arranged. This is more of an entry level position, great for students who have just graduated (or are graduating soon), and great for individuals looking to have a year devoted to getting a good PhD program application together.

Can be remote, but working in Boston at MIT is preferred. Contact me via the Julia Discourse for more details.

Skydio is the leading U.S. drone manufacturer and world leader in autonomous flight. Founded in 2014, raised $170M. Our drones are flown at scale in complex, unknown environments every day to capture incredible video, automate dangerous inspections, and save lives.

We combine a creative research environment with real production hardware, to enable our engineers to iterate at incredible speeds.

For example, we were the first to demonstrate a deep-learning based visual obstacle avoidance system and shipped it on the Skydio 2, where it remains the industry best. We are now revolutionizing 3D capture to be able to autonomously map anything and make 3D models in incredible detail.

We’re looking for engineers and researchers with strong SW development skills combined with strong mathematical thinking, and a drive to work on robotic systems. We are open to an experience range from new grads to world-class technical leaders.
